The very reason that when a salesperson suggests I take my data off site I stare a laser hole straight through their forehead. One of the few things that a salesman can say that actually makes me mad. The other is suggesting that I take my operation software to a Microsoft platform.

I have no idea what all that gobbily gook means.
You are probably better off for it. It is one of those things you either love or hate.

Not so much. I know the freeware / opensource folks don't care for it. It makes loading alternate OS's difficult. It is VERY MS-centric because of the required "secure boot" for Win8 with a private key. (bastids:mad:).

By default w/8 comes with secure boot enabled. A whole bunch of bitchin was going on about MS trying to elbow out the other OS's. You HAVE to disable that to load a different OS.

Why MS decided to go with a platform designed for touch screen and apply it to a PC is beyond stupid. I hope w/8 goes the way of w/ME. Or at least they come out with an update to easily toggle the interface back to something designed around a keyboard and a mouse. Business production from a w/8 machine sucks.

So much p0rn - so little time...

hehehe.....go ahead, you'll probably sound like me or my BIL.
He ABSOLUTELY hates MS. I refuse to go there too often and found an alternative instead of getting all riled up.

Replacing BIOS had to happen someday. And was never going to be painless.

I have a business to run and a pile of end users to keep happy. MS is still the industry standard for desktops. Just like MS Office. Its the only reason I entertain MS (well that, and if I run MS I always have something to do).

Agreed, but that don't mean I have to like the way MS shoe horned their butts into it.

My desktop support group always wanted to go to Linux. I told them that number one the users didn't want it and number two if stuff worked right we would be out of a job.

Where some smelled chit I smelled fertilizer.
