Chaps worked just like they're supposed to and stopped the chain instantly. Lesson learned...DON'T BE STUPID, but if you're prone to being stupid from time to time like I am...wear your safety gear!!!!!
Had been cutting without chaps. A neighbor talked me into borrowing his, he did not want to see something bad happen...I thought it sounded good so I bought a pair of Kevlar chaps. 3 days after getting them, while limbing the saw slipped, right into the chaps and right where my femoral artery is......doubt I would have made it to the hospital before dying....will never cut without them ever

never worn chaps in 30 yrs of cutting and don't remember any nicks but a few close calls.

One thing I've learned is that close calls, chains hitting rocks, trees falling the wrong way etc happen way more often when you're tired.

Like skiing, the last runs of the day when you're tired are the most likely injurious.

Quit a little sooner

Shortly after purchasing my 460 i picked up a pair of chaps. I figure if I run that saw into my leg I may not have much of a leg left. I was worried that the chaps would be really uncomfortable but they are just fine and they give me peace of mind. Now its time to find a safety hat w/ out the screen built in.

The screen is easily removed from every system I've ever seen.

i don't even notice the screen on my helmet....once i'm cutting i can't even tell it's there.

Glad you were prepared. How long did it take to clear all that crap out of the saw?

the better part of 20 minutes to unclog the saw...it was a pain in the butt. but still better than a trip to the ER :)

Just about anything is better than a trip to the ER.
