How long was the air shut down before you took the video?

Looks normal to me. Mine burns pretty much the same way with a full load of wood. Maybe I need a damper too! I'm not and expert on double wall pipe but that seems a little high for the surface temp.

200 degrees is to cool for single wall pipe. 325 to 350 is a good cruising temperature. When mine burns like that my flue temps are anywhere from 350 to 450. If you were over drafting I would think the flue temperature would be a lot higher, but I could be wrong. Next time its burning like that take the thermometer and put it on the stove top in the dead center and see how hot the stove is running.

I use the damper regularly & I think it really helps. I believe most dampers now have two ~1"holes in the middle to not allow you to totally shut it down, so in cold/windy conditions, I can turn it totally 'closed' and still get enough draft for nice secondaries - in fact, that's how I get my best secondaries. I think there's benefit too in being able to have the primary air open a bit more while the damper's closed. This way there are some flames from below ensure that the secondaries stay lit, but the overall airflow through the stove is kept low.

I do agree it seems my stack temp. seems a bit cool. If I'm having a smaller fire; daytime Stack usually runs around 200 stove top 500-700. When I stuff the stove full at night stack temp is anywhere between 250-375 and my stove top thermometer is maxed out at 750. I don't know why my stack temps are so low.
I'm really interested to see how my burn is with the damper. I'm not crazy about having one as I've heard many bad things about them, but I do think my burn is quite rapid closed down, especailly after seeing this youtube video. It amazes me how slow this liberty burns, Just like my parents Endeavor.

I'd give anything for my liberty to burn like that. After you get the damper installed, could you please post a video of the stove burning with the damper closed when you get a chance. If it truly works and burns like this video I will certainly be installing one

Just something to compare to. Tried to take a video, but video quality was horrible. This is an hour and a half into the burn with the blower on low and air closed completely. 6 splits loaded E/W and one on the side loaded N/S.

How tall is you're chimney? It seems to burn very similar to mine.
Not sure if your referring to me or zap but mine in 19 ft. straight up

Sorry, I was refering to zap. I'm curious chimney height compared to burn pattern. I'd really like to get my liberty to burn longer. I think i'm burning too hot at night.

I'm still working on this problem. So far I've tried a new door gasket and a key damper, neither made a difference. My dealer ordered a new air control to try, We'll see how that works. I'm lucky to get 5-7 hours out of a burn and the stove doesn't hold hot coals, after the fire dies down there's little to no hot coals left. I'm very frustrated. If we load the stove a 10pm the fires out and stove is cooling down by 2-3am.

We have around 20-21 feet of pipe on the outside. How much ash do you leave in your wood stove after cleaning? We are getting 8-10 hours with the fan on high.

Are you burning north.south or east/west in the Liberty, also what type of wood are you burning?

If a pipe damper didn't work its highly unlikely a new air control will do any good but who know that might be the problem. I loaded mine the other night with 5 splits at 9 pm got it cruising to 700 turned the fan on low and at 8:30 the next morning the stovetop was at 300 no coals until I stirred the ash and found a ton of coals. On Thursdays when I clean out the ashes I leave a very thin layer in the stove and I am still able to get 8 to 12 burns

I usually leave a think layer of ash when I empty it out. I try to burn north south but depending on length I may burn east west. As for wood I burn a mix of hardwoods; maple being the majority, oak, cherry, ash, ect. I really don't have much hope for the air control but the dealer want's to give it a shot. I really can't figure out why the burn time is so short. My sisters endeavor will still be warm at 6pm from a morning burn. My liberty loses temp as soon as the fire goes out.

The good thing is your dealer is trying to get this problem resolved. Most dealers don't want to see you after the sale

Are you sure all the welds are good?

Question for liberty owners. How long are your burn times? Also Does your stove hold a bed of coals? If I was to throw 4 logs in once they burn down there's little to no coals left.

I loaded 5 spits last nigh at 11 pm and didn't reload till 9 am this morning so 10 hours with blower on low stove when reloaded was 300. Mine will hold coals for a hours with enough to throw in some small splits and away she goes again. I never add more than 4 or 5 splits for overnight because of the fear it will take off on me while I'm sleeping

Ok that tells me I have an issue. I stuff the stove as full as I can at night 10pm, usually around 10 splits. When I wake up int the morning there's little to no coals 6am. The stovetop will be around 100 degrees.
