Just grabbed 10 bags of Energex pellets, thinking I had a shoulder season burn. Wow was I wrong, damn things are hot and super clean. I did notice a new bag,but assumed it to be same pellet. I was so wrong. These look and burn very different than I remember. They are short, light colored, low ash, and hot. I burned them years ago, & was not impressed. My stove is pickey and I am retiring her after this season.(upgrading to a P38) But my old iron work horse loves these pellets. I've noticed that pellets this year are short and hot, at least my stash. Any one else experience a pellet surprise this season??

Home depot use to sell them a few years ago back then they were alright but alot of ash I have not burned them in 2 or 3 years but if I see them again I will give them a try.My local guy is selling turmans at $275 per ton I picked up 6 bags to sample I have now burned the 6 bags and there is no ash in the stove.I have always bought my pellets from home depot I think I am going to pay the extra $40 per ton to get these pellets I have not cleaned the stove in a week and it still does not need to be cleaned that is never the case when I buy from the big box stores.

My surprise was to find Stove Chow in the Great Socialist Paradise of RI. We don't get much here, literally! My HD had 24+ tons the end of December and I shuddah
grabbed a couple of tons, my regrets. They burned as good as the BFs, but with more ash.... but the heat was there! I so hope HD screws up again next year and sends another truck this way.

I just found Energex at a local lumber shop for $275/ton delivered. Is that a good price?

275 delivered seems a bit steep, being most places offer lower pricing in spring & summer. The place where I bought my energex is selling them for 225.

Doesn't surprise me. They are typically very expensive for EVERYTHING. Just trying to help the local small business since they are 2 miles from my house. :) I have a few dealers in the area with larger selections I'm going to check with. Thanks!

Burning the Firesides right now and really liking them. Would like to see how they handle the real cold weather. Decent ash and good heat.

Energex are 235 a ton in my area. Never burned them, but I might give it a try with the feedback here.

I bought a ton of Energex Super Premium pellets from the dealer where I purchased my pellet stove. They were the best pellet out of the 6 brands that I tried - hot, low ash, and few fines. I paid $235 for the ton.

Good to know! I've read mostly good reviews on here but also a few negatives. He wants $245/ton, $275 delivered. There is a good dealer near here with several different options, waiting for the Spring flyer to see what they go for.

Are you close to "rays greenhouse" they are located in Telford. 235/ton. They may not have stock right now. I was told to try mid to late April for their spring prices.

I have a few in the house. Good burner. above average. a bit dusty though I think.

Unless I could commandeer a truck, that's probably too far for me. I'm closer to Reading.

I think Energex is made by the same company that makes Stove Chow and Fireside Ultra, both very good pellets this year.
Well...sort of...IIRC, Energex came first. Stove Chow is rebagged Energex American and Fireside Ultras are rebagged Energex Canadians. What you are describing sounds like this years run of FSUs. Many have raved about them this year. I got some about a month ago to finish out the season and have been very impressed compared to last years run.

Energex Super Premium? Never heard of them. Got a picture of the bag? I must find some! ==c

Cool looking bag! Hope they make their way up here someday. I'll keep an eye out for them. Thanks for posting the pic's! ;)
I am wondering if those are the Energex Softwoods my dealer was talking about?
