It's like bringing home a dog or cat, the other members of the family must accept it and it may take some time.

That looks like the same color as mine (check my avatar). It's a copper brown color... very cool. I have an older stove so it's probably the same color. Enjoy!

Thanks
I vacuumed out the stove,Then I just ran the stove in test mode and everything works.
The auger is a little dirty, I may clean it up some.
So you bought the stove without making sure it worked? I know you could fix it if it wasn't working but I would have wanted to see it burning before buying it for $1200. Maybe it's just me....

Hey Don looks like it might be stovebright Goldenfire Brown quads and Lopi used that color at one time I paint insides of Enviros that color, looks sharp. I can't believe we lost another one to Harman....... I'll just call it an old Quad... since Quad bailed Dane out (HHT).

I also picked up a Contour with the pie warmer, but I was saving that for another post. I really would like to know why Quad does not have that nice warming compartment anymore?

I found out my manufactures date by going to the harman page on face book and asked them. I gave them the serial number and it took 3 days for them to get back to me but they did return my message. here is the web site https://www.facebook.com/HarmanStoves?fref=ts you could also add a photo and ask them the Color good luck and nice stove

Am I the only one that kind of gets exited when you see don posted a new thread?

Hard to see the color, it looks black to me, Cant wait to se the restoration pics Don.
Don is an interesting kind of guy , and one who seems to have an unusual passion for pellet stoves. I give him an A+ for effort.

Hello

Well the P61 is not dead anymore. It is a Harman P61a now and lites automatically in less than 4 minutes!

The upgrade kit came with a new wire harness, so I took my time (2 days) and installed it.
See wiring and problems here. >> https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads...he-auto-ignition-upgrade.109254/#post-1438942

Now I have to paint it Satin Black and install the hopper extension.

See pics
The tag in the 3rd pics was on the black ESP probe wires.

So what all did you replace on this guy and what did it cost? Just curious for future information.

I know you did auger / upgrade kit (Which includes what exactly?)

The auger motor was working but the auger did not turn freely with no pellets.
So I had to pull the auger and clean it and coat it but most importantly, remove those nasty drops of slag in the auger flight tube!
See pics here > https://www.hearth.com/talk/threads/holy-harman-auger-pox-batman.109241/

I did install a new 4 RPM Gleason Avery high performance ball bearing auger motor but I could have used the older motor for a while longer.

The main issue was the control panel auger triac was shot and it was manual lite.
I purchased the ignition upgrade kit for approx $400.
1-00-06400/P61 Auto Ignition Kit for P61 Serial # 6400 and lower

This auto lite kit contains:
1) 1-10-05801 Burn Pot with Ignitor
1) 1-10-08327 Control Board Plate (with ignitor hole)
1) 3-20-05886 Control Board
1) 3-90-06100 Auto Ignite Label
1) 3-44-00409 Burnpot Gasket
1) 2-00-06623 Cleanout Cover
3) 3-31-015 Control knob (for D shaft)
1) 1-10-06691 P61A Pusher Arm
6) 3-40-69752 Tie Wraps
1) 3-89-06504 Wire Diagram (Stick On)
1) 3-90-05822 P61A Owner's Manual
1) 3-20-08767 Ignitor wires w/Plug (Instead of this part I got the whole wire harness with white connector that plugs into control board!)
2) 3-31-782108 Wingscrew 1/4 x 1/2
3) 3-31-605 Control knob D shaft

Harman uses the Golden Fire Brown Stovebright. The same color all of my steel stoves get painted. Since 1985.

It is a good color.
I was thinking of keeping it that color but by going to Satin Black it will be more marketable.

Harman has a color called Crossfire Brown, looks like it, though I didn't think they had that color when that model was made...but who knows. I have a P61 as well, you will like it a lot...I see the Astoria making and exit.

What color is your P61? Are you going to update it to a P61a ?

Thanks BB

Marketable?? I thought you may keep this one? A smart stove that will adjust itself?

Instead of you waking up chilly and needing to set the Astoria to a higher heat setting? You just set the Harman and forget it.

I'd sell the Avalon and throw that Honking P-61 downstairs!! ;) But thats just me....

I am still thinking of doing that, I was testing the P-61a in the garage yesterday. It came on full blast when I started the stove and warmed the garage up real quick! It was sucking down the pellets at first but then after the garage warmed up the feeding slowed right down to keep the garage comfortable. Then I opened the garage door and let alot of cold air in. Then the fire went back up to keep the garage warm. I shut the garage door and then the fire went back down and when it got warm outside the stove shut down automatically! After a while the garage got cooler than the set room temp on the stove of 73 Deg and the stove came back on for a bit just to bring the room back to temp!

Also since they designed a 1" air space in between the hopper and the stove, the stove top and sides get real HOT! Nice to radiate heat too!

This Harmy is a nice stovie. I still have to put the hopper extension on so it will hold 140 lbs. Then it will be great!

Also after running it a while with NO OAK, then hooked it up to the Selkirk DT OAK and it really cut down the amount of ash in the burn pot that needed to be scraped out! It did not eliminate the ash entirely but it did cut it way down!

Hello

Is it looking any better now? See pic below:

Please tell me that beauty is going in your basement for next season?

You can sell the Avalon for just as much as you would sell that? And the Harman is 10 times better. The bottom feed isn't picky about caking ash like your current stove. Bottom feeders Rock!!! ;)
