So I call a local guy who has some free wood. Turns out he's clearing some ground, most of it is on the ground and branched already, and wants the big stuff gone....
Anyway, me being the inquisitive type that I am, I ask him "what kind of trees are they?"
He replies "I'm not sure, but they are the kind that grow leaves....."

In the famous words of Bill Engvall, "HERE'S YER SIGN!"

;)

The bad news: You have no idea if it's cotton wood, poplar or willow.

The good news: You know it's not eastern white pine, cedar or balsam fir.
The better news: Sounds like free heat.

What's wrong with that? Most of our trees have needles.
Nothing wrong with it at all......it was just funny the way he answered me......
He wasn't sarcastic, he was serious. He had no idea what kind of trees they were!

its worth a look if nothing else. I'm not getting my hopes up, the two trees I saw in pics looked like poplar to me.......if that's what it is, I'll pass it on to my one buddy that has an OWB....

That's it for free wood from me as far as I'm concerned ! I didn't mind your smug little smirk when I describe the type of tree as " it had leaves " ,or " it has those skinny pointy type leaves that don't die in the winter ."
But, now you've ridiculed me in public . That's beyond the pale . Oh, and you didn't give me a sign either , So you're a liar !
Not only that , you're not as smart as you pretend to be ....... That idea you told me about on sharpening the front and back of the cutters on a chain ,so that I wouldn't have to worry about putting it on backwards so much didn't work . ;)

I'd like to add one more thing . When Scotty told me about sharpening both ends of the cutters ,thus reducing reverse chain errors ,He also said it would help with situations where the saw got trapped by a log .
"that way you can put it in reverse and back the saw out ,as it has cutters pointing the right way " . I think He was funnin me . Either that ,or I can't find the gear shift on my saw .
