alright, its now april and i get a local flyer in the mail for a early spring sale ,look on the web and the prices are still the same ,hope they were giving me a april fool joke ?

Weather is to cool for for a sale. Anyone know when woodpellets.com starts there early buy program;?

BT Enterprizes in Bristol CT has pulled the prices of most pellets from their site. I'm pretty sure they are getting ready to start their sale. CT pellet has already started their sale and the prices are now up on the site. I would expect the others will follow suit here shortly.

The pfi website has a real nice retailer finder. You enter your zip to search. I discovered so many news places with it. Gonna call around to get pricing.

Diesel fuel prices have been pretty stable and the powers to be have calmed the masses in various ways. I see a few dollars savings in buying pellets this summer but not much. Natural gas prices are expected to keep falling so is that a good or a bad sign? As for my summer prices it will not be much lower than my current pricing. I would not expect much more than a $10 savings from this season's prices.

John - can I get the URL for the pfi webiste please?

Thanks,
Brian

Bt said last week sale coming in a few days, but it now says " Mid to late April ". Really wanted to shop sooner.

Just got back from my local pellet dealer and his sign that was totally erased and out of stock 3 weeks ago is now all written in with new prices through APRIL. also offering 1/2 of delivery on orders through April. He did that through June last year. WTF are we supposed to do. Start buying pellets for next year durig this year's winter???

Nothing to write home about. Okanagan's are $10/ton cheaper than last year at $279. He has no Maine Wood Pellets softies this year. Said they didn't sell well last year and they raised their prices. Is that why they were out of them after February?? Maybe if they didn't start selling them last summer in May at $269/ton and then had to reduce them to $239/ton in January they would have sold better.

I think this pellet burning deal is going to start looking more and more like burning oil as time goes on.

I haven't spoken to Brian in quite some time. I don't think Debi works there anymore so I have lost my contacts. I am sure they are going to post something as soon as they can. Hang in there! I don't think CJ's has released their deals either. I'm pretty sure with the boxes pulling pellets from the stores. The pellet houses are rather busy selling people the goods to finish the season.

When I was at CT last night in the hour I was there, Scott was rather busy with phone calls and walk ins. I'm sure the others are just as busy. Many haven't enough fuel to make it through the winter that doesn't want to end!

I honestly only expected to burn about 25 bags of the ton of Turmans I bought recently. I have burned through 40 bags and It looks like we ain't done yet! I'll have to splurge on another ton before May by the looks of it! ;em

I'm looking for some deals in the Southern MD area and no price drops at all. I honestly don't want this season to end...

It doesn't surprise me that the early buy specials haven't started at most places. Unless they are out of inventory, why sell at discounted prices when it's freezing out and people will spend $6/bag or whatever? If it was 70 degrees out, the early buys would be started already. In the past, I've had mine delivered and ready to go for next year by now. I am a bit depressed because if CT Pellet is any indication, my Turmans will be somewhere around $279/ton, instead of my usual early buy of between $249-$259/ton. I might have to break my own rule and buy a cheaper shoulder pellet.

I guess we should be happy there is a price break even if its not as good as recent years. Looking at some of the other brands they have little to no spring price break at all. Which means we will probably see even higher prices come fall. I hope not, but thats whats happened in years past.

In your experience when is the best time to stock up for the next season? I found hammer hot ones for 250 and I'm tempted to pull the trigger. They were 275 to 285 during the dead of winter.

Most pellet producers dont even offer the Spring pricing until the first of April.....and in some cases dont even announce them until that time, so the retailers cant really set a Spring price until they get ALL of the prices...then there's the lag between coming up with the promo, see the proofs, send them to the printer, and then finally mail them. So, still slightly early?
As for what we have heard, there simply is going to be no deep discounts this Spring. The pricing I have seen from manufacturers is not wholly different than what we were paying 1 or two months ago. I cant comment on profit margins for the manufacturers, but on the retail end, there is still a certain amount we need to make to cover expenses AND some profit (a bad word, I know). The manufacturers contract raw material and set a yearly price (early in the year), then base their pricing largely on what the raw material price is....therefore, dont expect huge drops in price this year.
That being said, I dont know what pricing will be this summer or fall or next winter....and I dont know anyone who KNOWS that data either....shaky world these days. Maybe it will be more, maybe it will be less....I frankly have NO idea. The only certainty really would be that I guess, if you buy now, you will at least have next winter's supply secured, and be somewhat insulated from the fluctuations in the price of fuel. Now, its possible that the price may be lower, but I dont think that if it is lower, it will be much lower....but there is a very real chance it could be higher, OR there isnt enough supply....that WOULD be bad. But even in that situation, there is always gas or oil.
Ive never really understood why folks wait until the last minute to buy anyhow....it generally doesnt work for them, rather, against them. AAlso, you still run the risk of the supply issues we have seen in the past.
Anyhow, do what you feel is best.....I feel its best to be ready for winter before winter, but I can see the benefit of waiting as well.....just think the risks outweigh the benefits.

The price you see now at the pellet house's is most likely going to be the lowest of the season. On rare intenses I have seen mid season sales of over stocked brands. But again it very rarely happens.

Interesting ! Maybe a quick run tomarow Am.

Dry Creek or Energex american. Any preferance as to how they performed this year ???

Hamer's are NOT what they used to be,even CTpellet has mentioned privately they are chit, dont be fooled alot of pellets that WERE great 2-3 yr's ago SUCK NOW!!
I will NOT pay more than box price!!
So the heat may be less, but that's why there's heat settings on your stoves, CRANK IT UP!!
