Stove is going in on the 18th... what pellets to buy?

SO excited to have my stove installed on the 18th. I know it's a little late, but better late than never! Now my question to you fine folks... what pellets should I buy? The best prices I found are from a dealer near me. What would you go with? I'm new to the game and I plan to buy NOW at Spring prices so I can have a nice stockpile for next winter!

American Wood - $214/ton
Great American - $214/ton
O'Malley - $224/ton
Turman - $224/ton
Hamer - $231/ton

Turmans!! For that price Yep..... Or Hamers. Which is closer and what are you hauling with. That would be my deciding factor.

You most likely will love the Turmans and Hammers but my advice would be a ton of Turmans and Hammers and one of the others. It will be good for you to see how other pellets burn and who knows....you may be surprised by one if the less expensive brands.

Not to mention that what works for you today, May not be available tomorrow. Over the years, I have seen many get locked into brand x and are lost if they aren't available for some odd reason. Staying flexible to whats available in your area. Don't be afraid to experiment with different brands.

I always try just about everything I can find JIC. Plus its fun and you might find a sleeper in the mix. Best chance for a sleeper is new to market brands that don't have the user following. Prices can be much lower than the proven brands. Just be sure to try some before committing to a large purchase.

As you can see by my signature, I'd vote for Turman. However, I was wasting time on the Internet and came across a review on this site, http://www.woodpelletreviews.com/reviews/wood-pellets/turman-hardwood-pellets.html that had several very unfavorable reviews. I was surprised as I've purchased them for 3-4 years and have loved them. Either these reviews are BS planted by a competitor, or there was a problem with the quality in a batch or batches this year. I'd still take a chance on them, especially for the price you will be paying. They are $275 at CJs this spring.

Congrats on the new stove...I'm hoping to be done burning by the 18th (wishful thinking)!! No help here on the pellets as I've never burned any of them.

Thanks all! I think I'll be getting 2 tons of the Turmans and 1 ton of the Hamers to get a better understanding of how they burn. Can't wait to try the stove out! (if even for only a few nights)
