Wow good deal!

Thanks - I thought so!! Cheers!

20" bar on the saw now - we'll see!

Cheers!

Nice find, wish I could have found a good used one, they are hard to find around here. Enjoy !

Might be purchasing a MS391 for the golf course soon, their MS390 is on my bench now and it is a sick puppy indeed. Let us know what you think ASAP NH_Wood!

Good deal.
64 cc saw & you got 3 $25 chains (RS3 ? )

It's $550 new ;)

Yeah Dave - can't believe my luck on this one - I have to check the chains - he had them in labeled baggies with a little oil on them, but they are obviously near brand new - perhaps a sharpening or two. I'll have to look at them closely tomorrow to be sure of what they are - can't wait to try her out. I bought the saw to resell - but I think I'm going to sell my 039 which is in awesome shape - hoping to get about $275 (has a brand new 20" stihl bar and chain on it now) - that would leave me at about $50 + gas money to move up to the new 391 - not too shabby!! Cheers!

MM looking to buy 391 ;)
He's drooling over your deal LOL ;lol

Ha - I might feel bad posting pics then!!

Golf course staff pulls the rope on a 20" saw maybe 6-7 times a year. Hard to justify stepping up to the MS362. Plus, with multiple operators and minimal maintenance, the saw is likely to be dropped, crushed, straight-gassed, or five-fingered long before it wears out. They need a saw that's extra durable, performs reliably with excellent parts availability, and doesn't cost a fortune.

I can be practical -- says the guy with 2 MS460's........

Sounds smart to me MM! Cheers!

Pics coming today Mike - been too damn busy to play!! Cheers!

Serious question on bar length on this 391 - stihl site recommends bar length of 20" max - is that about right for this saw, or could I run a 24" bar for the big stuff? Not sure the saw would have enough grunt for 24" running a 3/8 chain. Thanks!

20" for normal use . 24" for occasional use.

Thanks lukem - that's what I was thinking - I couldn't see running a 24 on my 039 for very long, so figured as much for the 391. Thanks!

That's odd. The orange handled 390 was rated for a 25" bar.

Redd's right, the old 390 was rated to run a 24.
In my experience, however, I'd only want to do so occasionally. And the muffler could some work if you want to run that 24" bar. Unbelievable how choked up it is stock. (the 390 that is).

NH_Wood - I think the 391 would have plenty of grunt to run a 24" bar, maybe it's a little short on the the oiler?

Perhaps MM - I'll have to watch the oil if I go for a larger bar. Still having a hard time deciding if I should flip this saw or keep it and sell my 039. I really like my 039 - runs perfect. Thinking it might be worth flipping a few more good saws and just going for a pro level Stihl - would like to have a MS362 - with the level of care I give me saws, would likely be a forever saw. I am a fan of metal over plastic........Cheers!
