The wife and I just got home from a day trip to Woodstock Soapstone and placed an order for a charcoal Keystone. We're very excited!

We did a ton of research on stoves (mostly from lurking here..Thanks everyone!) and decided the Keystone was the best fit. Unfortunately, despite all the great things we heard about Woodstock Soapstone, it didn't sit right with us ordering a stove without physically touching and seeing it. We decided to take the 11 hour round trip to New Hampshire and were not disappointed. Nothing but quality and class at that place!

Now it's time to get the addition built and stove installed (with plenty of pictures, of course) by next fall . Should be an eventful summer....

Welcome to the Forum and welcome to the Woodstock family.

You are going to love the stove, and will get lots of support here and from Woodstock.

Have fun with the addition. Will look forward to your posts over the next several months, and when you start heating with the Keystone. :)

Congrats! Like rideau said, you are gonna love that stove.
I saw the quality in my SIL's Fireview, so went ahead and ordered the Keystone, sight unseen. I was not disappointed. :)

Wooodstock, great people and stoves...you'll love your new stove!

Better get some wood fast!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your Keystone stove! WS is a great company and do awesome work. Hope to attend another pig roast there sometime..

Welcome to the forum Gasass.

I hope that 3 cord is stacked out in the wind to dry and also hope it is not oak. Most new burners are well advised to stay away from oak at first only because oak takes so long to dry out. We always wait 3 years after the wood has been split and stacked before burning any oak.

I also hope that 3 cord is already splits and stacked out in the wind.

I can easily picture you at the Woodstock factory. It is really a nice place and you are right; is nice to see the stove first. Did you get to pick out the actual stone you wanted? How about delivery? Or perhaps you already have the stove home?

We would really appreciate pictures when you get it installed.

Yup..the wood is split, stacked and in the wind. I do have some oak and am aware of the lengthy time it takes to dry, but I figured I should get the process started as soon as possible. I'm anticipating burning around 2 cord a year, so I wont touch the oak this coming burning season. Is two years sufficient?

They didn't have a charcoal in stock but were in the process of building one (were waiting for some parts for the door). We were happy with the stone in that one so we tagged it. I need to get them a dimension from hearth to ceiling for the stove pipe and then it will be shipped when the remaining parts come in.

We're looking forward to getting started on the addition and getting this puppy installed!

No pics of the day trip?!! Awe...geezum, I am dying to get up there, and I'm closer than you too! Do they give you a "Factory tour" of some sort so you can see them being made. I love Factory Tours!

Yes you go right up to the people assembling the stoves and ask questions etc.. At least this how it was during open house.. It is not an automated process all hand built..

Two years might be sufficient in your area but I'd still prefer 3. I'd also probably favor top covering the wood stacks right away in your area. I know of some of the rains you can get! Heavy and lots of it.

So you are also getting the pipe from them to match the stove. Should really look nice. Congratulations.

You will be treated very nicely no matter when you show up. Well, maybe no so on Sundays.... Good to call ahead if possible. And they don't mind old hippies nor would they mind if you rode the bike to the factory.

Cool! Because it is going to happen soon.

I'll be stopping at the 4Aces Diner (just off the Rt4 bridge on the Lebanon side) first to have my traditional cheeseburger! Great riding area!

Sorry, I don't remember the name of the place but just before reaching the factory there is a bar where they brew their own beer. They also have excellent food. The Woodstock people can tell you where it is. Good luck and enjoy the trip.

Seven Barrel Brewery? We had lunch there and was not impressed with the food or service. Maybe they were having a bad day...

I'll ask. I'm not a beer drinker anymore but I could use a pointer to a better restaurant or two up there. I did find a place on the other side of the river in White River Junction that served me the BIGGEST prime rib I ever saw on a single plate. it was almost the whole cow! I'll have to get the name of that place again too.

Lebanon NH is not exactly a world culinary center, even if it is maybe a soapstone wood stove center of the universe. (No offense to any of you Lebanon guys that maybe monitor this site.)

I do believe that is the place. I'm not much of a beer drinker but have tried 2 of their brews. I recall going there with Ray and we had excellent service and food. Everyone else I've spoken to have recommended it.

Yes, we took a little tour. There wasn't much going on as it was Saturday and we got there shortly after they opened. We were the only ones in the joint until about 11:00 am. In hindsight, I'd rather have gone up during the week so I could see a stove being assembled .And yes, we have some pics of the stoves but nothing too exciting.
