I would say some type of maple - which one I am not sure. is it good firewood for free: absolutely!!

Silver maple in the top 2 pics, possibly cherry in the 4th. Can't tell on the 3rd.

Thanks!

I only have my compact car, but I do have my axe, and new sledge and wedges. Will have to swing by on the way home and see how much is left. Lucky me its only about 2 minutes out of my way.

pics 1&2 Soft Maple(most likely Silver), pic3 Elm and biggest piece sure looks like Oak, but hard to tell for sure. pic4 Elm

Some maple
Hard to say on the other stuff.

Free is good ;)

I think the first two pics show Silver Maple, the second two show Mulberry. Take the mulberry first if you have a choice, but it is all good stuff.

Welp got what I could in my car. I also got his number and will call him and pick up some more if there is any left come monday. Think it should be around 1/3 rank.

Mulberry, nice call Duck! No excuses but Mulberry very unusual are these parts. Very little experience with it.

Well it splits soooooooooo easy compared to the sycamore I got last week. It was almost fun to split. Even my kid said that looks a lot easier.....

Cant got im off work tomorrow and have like a thousand things to do the next 3 days while im off.

it's no biggy if it isnt. One of the guys at work cut down a maple tree a few weeks ago, he said he had like 2 truck loads I could have. Said he would even cut it up to the 16 inches I need for the stove I am going to buy. :)

Man, stuff like that is gone from around here in about 20 minutes. Seriously. I got a 3 cord load of fir a few weeks ago and the guy said he got 30 emails and calls in the first 30 minutes. I was second on the list, and the first guy never showed up. I was there with a trailer in an hour after he called me and asked if I was still interested. I am still splitting that wood with a maul and stacking it here for... lemme see... the 14/15 season.

I wood venture a wild guess as black locust in the 3rd/4th photos.

Get the Mulberry and then do only 999 other things. ==c

Im seriously considedring grabing my dads truck tomorrow and getting the rest of that stuff and then doing my other million things.... That stuff just split so easy! And I need about 1 cord of quick drying stuff for next fall. The oak I have wont be ready.....

Also found another add thats right by my perents house so I could get this stuff then go by the stuff I got today!

Hopefully the Maple in the latest ad is soft, like the other one. That's guaranteed to be pretty dry by this fall if stacked now. That Mulberry looks pretty fresh though. Better split small, but even then I don't know if it will be dry...I haven't had too much experience with it. I was able to find a bit of dead Mulberry that was dry enough to throw in the stove. Not a substantial amount. I've been grabbing Silver and Red Maple, though, and have about two cords stacked so far. Can't believe how easy that Silver splits. :)

It really was amazing how easy it was. I couldnt get anymore today. My dad(who never drives the truck....) took the truck to work today......... Maybe tomorrow, but I may be to busy. I have too many projec ts going on right now. lol

ok split some more if this stuff.

This stuff split very easy:

This stuff sucked it was almost white:

Mulberry for sure, Soft Maple for sure. On the soft maple note how pinkish-red the inner bark is. This is a good way to ID Soft Maple vs. Hard Maple. Hard Maple will be a yellowish-brown.

Silver Maple is usually nice to split. Looks like that one had a bit of a twist too it. Hopefully some of it is straighter.
Love that Mulberry!

Got another CL find. They say its oak. Looks like it to me. The real question is: Is that poison ivy on it?
