Hello

How is your stove's old ash bucket?

These P Series Harman ash pans can get dirty and a little rusty so here is what I did.

I pulled out my exacto knife kit and down loaded a nice camp fire stencil from the internet. The camp fire imples to use caution when empting the ashes. :)

Went to the auto parts store for VHT Flame proof very high temperature Flat Black and Flat Aluminum car header paint. 2,000 Deg stuff not the 500 deg engine paint!

Then I knock down the rust with the drill and wire brush. Cleaned it up with some Acetone from Home Depot!

I printed out the stencil and cut out the inlay with the exacto knife.
Painted the handle and the inside of the ash pan with the black and outside with the aluminum.

Taped the stencil on and gave it a spray with the black over the aluminum.

Does anyone have a dirty or rusty ash pan like this?

There was paper or something on the last pic in 1st post.

Those look better. But isn't the pan hidden behind a door?

Yes it is behind the door with the Grist Mill tile on it. But I still wanted to knock down the rust and preserve it!

here's a guy hint, Lake Girl..... he IS good with paint brush, he just feigns inadequacy with the painting.....well, you know why.....

I need a Stainless steel pan ,gonna have to make one myself.

The galvanized square one only last about 2-3Yrs The round one less than that .SS should last the life of the boiler

It also depends how it is taken care of. By knocking down the rust and cleaning with Acetone and repainting, it should last a bit longer. The one I just repainted is 12 years old.

My boiler is coal fired and i spray the ashes with water to keep dust down so probably some acid in those ashes and the water aids in accelerated rust through.

oh yes, that is a very harsh environment indeed!

I have ash pan envy. My pan is only 2 inches tall. About the only thing that would fit on the front of it would be some sort of tribal design. The only stencils around here rainbows and butterflies though. These girls are NOT taking over my stove...it's all I have left. Lol. Looks nice though, great idea.

Time on yer hands....I like the effort cool stuff.

Just to toss it out there....be cautious of downloading imagery like your campfire icon there and showing use of it in an application (reproducing) unless you own the rights to the image OR have changed the image enough to claim fair use. People get sued for that type of stuff and don't laugh, I speak from experience.

The one I posted is altered, It is easy to draw your own stencil. I will actually make the gaps larger between the fire, when I do another one and make the whole stencil larger. What did you do and how much were you sued for?

Still busy with calls, parts and rebuilding stoves. This is part of an overhaul. How about you Scott?

I wasn't sued but a friend of mine who own an insurance company had a girl make a website for them and used some graphics off the internet and they got sued...well not actually, but were billed for unauthorized use for about 5k...for using a picture of a woman talking on a headset on one of their pages.

Very busy here not doing much. I have only cleaned about 5 stoves in the past month...one more month of down time before I schedule the several hundred cleanings I have commitments on.
