Feeling the Heat

Conifer Colorado
Finished up moving 6 cords for the 2013 - 2014 heating season into the wood shed
Now to replace the missing stack

Nice feeling isn't it?

I usually wait until October to do the moving because many times I'll use that space in the barn for other things. Besides, mid to late October really seems nice because we are finally getting rid of the flying insects.

I refuse to move it more than necessary. After felling, limbing and bucking it goes into the truck, from the truck to the splitter to the wood shed or outside stack, then to the rack on the front porch. I'm not moving it from one stack to another stack. Whoever said "the man who cuts his own wood is warmed twice" obviously never did it himself. I get a lot more warming than I want as it is.;)

Nice job, (I think. Pictures ? )

I let mine out all summer to season, then to the shed in Sept.
Then start cutting replacement wood .

That's a good feeling! Like Backwoods Savage, I don't move mine until October, as I use the area under my deck for other things in the summer. But if you're not using the space, it's good to know that wood is dry from now on.

I still need to build a dang shed yet!
But I've gotten a HEAP of wood already this spring (mostly unpredicted), and have another big batch to get next weekend, so I'll be restocking what I used up last year and then some...
Then I have a TON of tree work coming up in summer and fall.......I have a feeling I'll be very busy......

Normally also wait until October but if I fnd another decent sized score or two soon I'll be forced to move to the shed sooner. No matter when you do it though, it is a good feeling to have a full shed.

I'm still bucking and splitting wood from this monster pile.

Geez I finally got my shed built 7x16 ft, what a pia it is filling it, much easier burning right from the stacks. At least I wont have to worry about pending storms and tarps though.

Nice feeling having that all taken care of though.

To be totally honest that picture was from March and it is my neighbor, Rich. He has a farm and made a deal with a big tree outfit to have quality logs dropped at his land as long as he took some chips as well. He ended up with 60 yards of chips but also 50 cord of wood. I grabbed about two cord of oak and cherry and a cord of the same for my dad. They came with a graupel truck three times that spring. I wish I had more room.

This is where it ends up. 50 up my driveway and I hand split it all. Except now I have some gnarly cherry an hickory that I will borrow my buddy's splitter for. I could have had 10 cord of oak cherry and maple but I just don't have the room. That tree company dropped 50 cord at one farm and 50 more at my buddy's house. Once in a lifetime deal. They both run OWBs and really burn some wood. I am content for now

Is that pic upside down? Or is it just me? ;em

Probably taken with an iPhone (or some other iDevice). If viewed with QuickTime, it will appear right side up, otherwise, not. I think it's Apple's way of twisting Microsoft's tail (again).:p

Good work! Glad that there were some pics, if not by the OP, in this thread... ;)
