What grinder? I don't have a grinder.......... Or do I?

Stihl USG grinder, brandy new. Have the foot operated clamp coming. I haven't made it a permanent home yet either but that will have to happen soon. I've only run one 26RMC68 chain on it so far, excellent results!
This thing is built like a tank, should be around a long time! Capability to do hedge trimmer blades and carbide circ saw blades could come in handy down the road. Doing the trimmers with a flat file for now and the FIL is on his own for the time being with the saw blades. Needs a work light, that bench is pretty well lit and it still gets dark under the wheel.

Now you need more work bench space.
I actually will be mounting it to an old table (I think,
) and setting that table up as my play area for chain. Yup, it most certainly is. But I'm starting to get more chain than I can keep up with at times. Last customer just dropped 15+ loops. That's a lot of time with the hand files and a vise. I might still hand file a chain that's mounted on a saw otherwise ready to go. Otherwise they're coming off and getting "batch processed".

Absolutely on the video Jay. I am waiting for the chain position adjuster screw (original was bent in shipping, I can technically use the grinder but it's not as accurate as it could be since the chain stop engages the cutter behind the one being ground. That relies on just the clamp to hold the link still.)
If I get the hedge trimmer blade setup for it, I would be the only guy around doing it "right". Most just file like I do currently (nothing wrong with that) or use a "whiz wheel" type grinder (cut-off wheel mounted in a 90 deg die grinder) to hack 'em.

very nice! I like the versatility of it.....I have LOTS of circ. saw blades laying around.....not to mention a mountain of chains and a line of people waiting to get theirs sharpened by me too.......

There are some decent grinders to be had for well under $200, The Northern/Timber Tuff unit is frequently available for a little over $100. A bit of massaging and they can be a very decent unit for firewood cutters like us.
Plus there is a slew of older used Oregon 511, 511A, and 511AX units that you could snag for much less than new.
