What is the reason that a non gasser OWB could not benifit from a Catalytic convertor technology?

Seems to me that I've heard that OWBs don't achieve the high temps required for Catalytic function...Could be wrong, tho...

That makes sense. I will need to research the required temp.
The mass of water im guessing keeps that temp lower than needed.

The ceramic substrate would have to have huge square foot surface area in
order to create the heat required to burn the smoke and convert it to carbon
dioxide and water vapor.
The other issue is idling and it will also clog them up because of that.
The have to be kept hot at all times to work properly and idling defeats
that by 100%.
If outdoor boilers had water scrubbers they would only steam as
the water would trap all the unburned smoke.
A firebrick lined fire box and a two or three pass fire tube design with
the fire tubes immersed in a very long water chamber/reservoir would
solve the smoke issue as long as the draft is induced and not forced.
