decided to TRY too replace current set up of 2' double wall ,up to 90 & 1' to thimble stove pipe into masonry chimney on resolute stove to TRY to better draft. Changing to 2 -45's As I don't want to spend 6k + for what could a cobbled up mess / law suit .

Any one cut this stuff ? The plan is cut off the chimney adapter by 1-1/2" using a dermal cut off for inside & metabo cut off the outside of the selkirk chimney adapter ?

Is this reasonable ? oh & I had to put a damper in the line between the 2- 45's to get distance with the very limited selection of pipe options @ menards ( I got 5 pcs for about $100)

Option one return stuff

option 2 cut pipe if it don't work return the other 4 pcs.& eat $20 loss

I think i'm going in::-)

Sawsall with a long metal blade. Mark your cut with a piece of masking tape first. The tape edge is easier to follow than a sharpie mark.

If you cut the pipe, will it still connect properly?

Not quite following the set up here, but they typically make slip or adjustable lengths. That way no cutting would be needed. No you do not want to cut double wall pipe. It most likely states it right in the directions of the pipe not too cut.

This is also my concern with cutting stove pipe. I don't see a way to properly connect end to end if you cut it.

Yes I understand the burred edge may not want to mate.

Sawsall would be cutting both layers together no ?

Inner pipe is shorter than outer .If I cut the inner out first with dremel cutting wheel ( its a large one for the dremel) then I could saws all the outer & deburr with dremel

This pipe I'm cutting mates with the solid steel thimble .I don't think I'd try it on any other connection

Agreed. This pipe is not meant to be cut. When in doubt, call the mfg..

24" up from stove ,then 12' to thimble female connect to thimble that with a 90 between . sorry I live in the weeds
this is based on stove & chimney that can't move . (above is what is currently connected stove pipe)

hope this adds clarity

Not clear, a picture would help. Up 24" and then what happens before the 12' of pipe?

Got it, a very short run. Can you come off the stove with a 45 elbow, then slip connect to another 45 in the thimble? Something like this?

Yurt stove.jpg

fact of the matter is you can't do this at home ,you don't know the REAL MEASUREMENTS at least from this manufacturer

I could post pics of the boxes if that would help

sorry sarcasm
