Just make sure you have dry wood,,, get a moisture meter, split open your wood and check it... if it's not dry, your going to be very disappointed with the Fireview. Otherwise you'll love it!

Hi Charlie, I have one. If I get around to it, I'll split a piece open and take a reading.. maybe post a pic. I've been at least 2 seasons ahead for the last few years.. actually ever since the 12 day power outage/ice storm we had down here in 09 I believe.

Glad you have dry wood, you'll burn less , have great heat, and get the full potential of the Fireview. Hey the good thing,, I all ready burned the paint smell off the stove for ya! ;lol That took about what seemed to be 10 fires easily. Lots of paint on those Woodstocks ;)

While they still had the sale going on ($400 off), I put a hold on a PH in charcoal.

I wish I could make it to the factory, but that's quite a drive. We'll have ours delivered to the nearest hub.

Are they difficult to install? Should I hire someone or should I attempt this on my own?

Nectar:

It depends on your setup. I have a tall fireplace opening needed by the Progress, so it was easy. I had to extend the hearth to meet the front clearance requirements, and also insulated my flue for better performance. It was all pretty straight forward.

While I was just there to pick up my Charcoal PH, they had 4 charcoal ones to choose from.. Just have to be able to move 700 lbs ... I built a wooden ramp to move ours and set it on a dolly with my tractor forks.. Just get some muscle.. four people or so..you should be fine.. There's a video showing setting the stove up, mounting the legs and removing the pallet in sections, it's screwed together so it makes it easy to set up and get off of the pallet.. Woodstock provides good detailed directions as well.. Plus as always, they are just a phone call away for assistance..Nice thing if you can do it yourself, you'll know the stove better..If you can't you can't.. Good luck, lots of folks on here will help with any questions as well. Good luck and keep us posted.. I'll be taking more pictures as I get my PH rolling into place.. She's a heavy girl for sure, but all that weight spells heat sink to me ;). Chimney will probably be the most difficult thing depending on your set up..
Charlie

I moved my PH in on 3/4 pvc cut up as rollers by myself and it wasn't too bad. I still have to build the hearth so I cant comment on the rest of the install but I think moving it is half the battle. Never having owned a stove before I was very impressed with dealing with Woodstock compared to the local stove shops I visited. Also they put out a beautiful and well made product. This country needs some more companies like these guys.

Nectar, when we were at Woodstock in 2011 we met a very nice couple from the Milwaukee area. They bought a fireview while they were there as it was a nice sale at an Open House. They came up with a very unique way to take it home too! A PT Cruiser! It just barely fit. I think they had to redo the pallet just a little bit. The second picture is Mike from WI and Tom Morrissey of Woodstock fame.

Three people to move ours, two worked together installing (more companionable that way). Replacing a Fireview, so it just slipped on the same hearth and into the same stovepipe. Assembling the stove (shields, stove top etc) was quite straightforward; excellent instructions enclosed. Only suggestion would be to plan to "assemble" during business hours, so if you do have any questions you can call Woodstock. Once you get that far with the stove, you're going to want to try her out:). Oh - and check and make sure the cat is properly seated before lighting your first fire. Know of one case where it was not. Before you install the cooktop, be sure the cat is snug down in its opening.

What a great looking stove and even better company.

Hey sappy, good to see you back on the forum.
