Trunks look like silver maple. I love it but some feel differant.

PS. I am not good and the ID game.

Not sure what it is, but someone could have used a well sharpened chain to get the job done. At least you won't have to cut all the way through. Might be worth the 10-15 mile trip if you can pull up to the wood and can pick and choose what you want.. Looks like someone already picked over what was there maybe for milling or firewood.

Saw this ad on CL the other day, I think it is a maple as well, branches are prob ready to go or almost there and the trunk pieces should be ready bu Thanksgiving if you get em CSS ASAP. As long as it is a 17+ million BTU per cord wood I would think it is wort the 10-15 mile trip.

IMHO it is only when you run into the 13 million BTU woods that travel isnt worth the time/money. So Cottonwood/Pine is ok if dumped in my driveway, but Im not going to get it.

Looking at Sweeps BTU wood chart most wood is that is easy to get to and plentiful in SW Michigan 17.9 million BTU - 22 million BTU. I can get a solid 10hrs of heat between reloads with this kind of wood. NO reason to kill myself getting anything with more BTU's, or less.

its not willow.. Go for it!

Who ever was cutting in the third pic needs to learn how to sharpen both sides of their chain.

The tops look pretty straight and clean, to bad the logs have been hacked crooked - 16 different lengths of splits out of one round:mad:

Sugar maple.

IMHO any maple of that volume is worth the 15 mile trip. I always leave my contact info with the homeowner for possible future referrals and ask if they can be a reference for me to give out in the future too.
Gonna be a little work to correct the sloppy cuts though.
