Chimney is installed! Dodged some rain drops and got it done in about 6 hrs, without any problems. Framing the hearth is next on the agenda after the drywall finishing is complete.

Looks good! Did you caulk the top of the storm collar to the pipe with silicone? It's hard to tell from the picture.

Just curious what your building code is over that way. In my county of Michigan we have to be 10ft away from the second roof / wall and 10ft from the nearest peak. It looks great though if I could have run the chimney up that way I would have !

The code is International. The flue has to be 2' higher than anything within 10'. It kinda looks like it might not be, but if that's a 4 pitch, it could be.

Yes. Ran a bead where the boot meets the pipe, then installed the storm collar and ran another bead from collar to pipe.

It's just under a 2 pitch. Top of pipe is 3'-4' above the roof/overhang. And no, I didn't use shingles on the low slope.

What kind of pipe is that? It looks like a Metalbestos flashing and storm collar.

Correct.
You have me questioning the height of the pipe now. It's 1 3/4" / 12" pitch and the top of pipe is 3'-4" above the roof line where it passes. I was focusing on being 3'-0" above the roof line but do I meet code with the 2 10 rule?

Nice job. Now to get a wood eater hanging off the end of it.

If you got 4' including the cap, I think you are with 6 or 8" of meeting code. I would give it a try like it is unless you happen to have a piece sitting around. It would probably never be be an issue.

The building inspector is a ball buster, though. I'll have to check it tomorrow and maybe lose the 12" piece and get an 18"

Just go up there, hold a tape measure out to 10' and make sure it's level. Your flue needs to be 2' higher than that including the cap.

Well done. It looks like you gained a little extra room for damn wood burning while you were at it.

We picked up about 450 sq ft for a total of 1550 sq ft. The damn thing better not complain about it, either!

That house looks pretty narrow. It may not be 10 feet to the peak...if not, then he only needs 2 feet above the peak, and may be OK.
Its 14' and change from ridge to fascia. I think I need to add a little unless the cap is factored into the 2 10 rule. I'll check it out today.

Holy cow! Thats a lot of work. Nice Job!!
Thank you, sir. It was and still is a lot of work. Didn't help that we had the most rain in June and July ever, but I'm definitely over the hump now. I'll get it sided this week and then its interior trim, paint, hearth and flooring....then sit back and enjoy the fire!

Nice job, the Keystone should heat that addition nicely, probably the rest of the house as well.
