Just saw a Country Hearth 2000 on special at my local hardware store, $874 inc blower (down from $1399.) This is the first time i have seen one in Australia and looking at the reviews it looks like its perfect as a second stove. My main stove is in the main living area and is excellent at heating the whole of the upstairs, but i have a small stove down stairs (1 living area) which i light when i'm not burning 24/7 or when i need an extra boost at weekends / night time etc... The small stove was good enough but i couldn't get big enough logs in there and had to go east west which wasn't perfect.

Hopefully the new one will be better especially with the blower included and the extra size. It looks pretty well made (in China) the welds look good quality and the stove is a good looking unit. I will post a review once i get burning - hopefully at the weekend.

i should get most of my money back by selling the old stove on Ebay........

Keep us posted on how it performs.

It should burn that Australian Wood just fine.

Auzzie alot of these guys are so quick to scream its made in China that the forget to look you live in Australia.

Here in the USA you got these old guys always complaining buy USA but all the old guys are the ones who sold the young workers down the river voting for new hire supplements in the union contracts. So the younger generations works at the poverty level while older guys are retiring buying 100,000 dollar motor homes and high dollar wood stoves, as they got lucrative retirement packages for voting in contracts that cut the pay of the new generation, so they are making 1/3 of what they should be making.

But remember buy USA, LoL.

PS but they wont throw away their smart phones or their other chinese made stuff but they got a USA made wood stove, oh boy.

Then you got some guys expanding it to buy north american goods.

Also sold in the USA, somewhat ironically under the US Stove brand.
i can't believe it - it is actually cheaper here than the USA - that must be a first :)

From what i have read it is a reverse-engineered.... a post from Seasoned Oak last year.

".....ts interesting BG I could swear they (chinese) reverse engineered the Englander when designing the 2000and 2500 model stoves. with a few minor differences. They made it wider and put a nicer door but inside it looks like an englander with the same steel air feed channel configuration ,same reburn tubes right down to the angle of the holes in the reburn tubes. THe even have the air hole in the middle blowing back into the fire like the dog house on the englander. They even have that same worthless shallow ash pan that no one uses.Since the englander burns front to back a wider version would give more heat but shorter burn times. THe body of the stove is quite thinner steel but the top is 1/4 to 5/16. Its an englander "light".

So, does the flames burn counter clockwise as well down there
LOL - it was the first thing i checked when i moved from the UK to Aus ;)

Does anyone know about the blower on these models? do they have a temperature switch to turn the blower on and off like a rheostat - or is it on or off?

What kind of baffle do they use and is there a ceramic blanket on the top of the baffle board?

Alot of these stoves use a ceramic board like 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick.

it's funny you should mention it - as i was looking in the store yesterday at the display model and i thought they had left some polystyrene in place of the baffle plate. I am used to 10 mm solid metal plate - but this is a very light weight ceramic blanket. I assume this is more to insulate the firebox and convert as much off gas / smoke into heat as possible.

I must say it does look very impressive and well made. A similar stove in Australia would cost $1500 - $2000

here's one (the next model up) for $1550 on ebay in Aust. He has sold quite a few units already - he must be importing them.

It sells for $599 in Indiana at Tractor Supply. Australian dollar is .90 of a US dollar. I think thats $667 in your country.

Wow - that seems soooo cheap to us in Australia. I thought $874 was cheap....... i assume everything is relative - i currently pay $20 an hour for a labourer !!! to assemble wheelchairs and sometimes i struggle to fill the positions as its not the best paid labouring job around. i'm not sure how that compares to the USA? but compared to the UK we are paying ~ 50% higher.

I have been lookin at that stove, for $599 here in Michigan at Tractor Supply.
There are other people on here that own them ,that say they are easy to start and do a good job
