Earthquake here knocked over the middle of a cross stacked row.
None of the ends failed though.
Dave & I are still learning & improving.


PapaDve's stacks are still the "gold standard" end post or not
Single row, off the ground, good air & sun 1,000 ft long !

Each round set in place with a laser



"T" post would just no look right.
Locust post may last a lot longer.

Thank you! I'm 'flattered'. I've posted at least three crashes, two of epic proportions.

Unless you are swimming in it, my bet is you would be burning it, not 'posting' it.

Being my first year of burning, I cross stacked everything in hopes that it dries faster (I started collecting Nov 2012). As you can see I've had some learning hiccups along the way:

What I've learned is to lean one row into another for more stability. Next year due to space constraints I will only criss cross the ends or if I can find T-posts for free I'll nab them.

kidding...kidding. I always set the wheel barrow on the side so water doesn't pool up and rot it out any more than normal.

How about putting that wheelbarrow up against the stack so the handles point upwards?

Not so sure about the idea of leaning one row against the other. I guess it would work but you'd have to take from both rows at the same time. Best still if each row supports itself. You'll do much better when you get to the point where you are cribbing only the ends.

Oh Holy Mother of SAWDUST, Bster13's pic up there should be motivation for all self respecting wood burners to get ahold of something OTHER than plastic to top cover with.....

PLUS, I just can't, (wipin' tears from my eyes right now) I just can't say how proud I am to know Woody Stover, with his exceptionalism in wood stack collapse, surely takes the blue ribbon in that department

But then water can collect in the rolled seam around the top of the tray. This is the kind of minutia that plagues me no end.

Yeah, then you have the main stack stabilizing the cribbed end. Those three cribs I made with the wet Silver, each one is standing on its own; Not hopeful that they will last too long, especially since I didn't have nice slabs to make them with. They ain't all that straight....

Well, I'll give you more minutiae to fry your brain.
Water can now get down in the axle clamps more easily, and the frame is now more exposed to the elements.
