Agressive Deer ??

We have a family of deer (babies too) that go between our properties, they never seemed to pay attention to what we do as we go thru our day....they watch us walk our dog (Yorkie) in our yard.....run the splitter, and so on. This morning, I was going to get some splits, and take the dog out too....the deer were out there as usual....Mom and two babies....this time, the mom looked at me and my pup, and turned toward us (never had this happen).....I picked up my pup and pointed him towards the house, and told him to get on the deck where my Wife was watching this unfold......the freakin' deer started toward me....the Wife yelled for me to back off, and said it looked like it was going to attack....so I did. Here it is 3 hours later, and two full grown deer stood on their hind legs and started fighting.....in all my years, and having these deer here often, this is a first....do you think we have a problem?

They used to stomp their hooves and snort when our dog got to close to them, that's just about it.

We see doe and fawns quite often, we rarely see a buck!

Put them in the freezer. They won't bother you there.

I've had one take a couple steps toward me right after fawning season, but this is a really unusual time of year for them to be acting like this.

Usually when 2 does do that they are fighting over food. In the spring, they will kick out their young by doing this. For sure one would not want to get kicked by those sharp hooves.

Also, if one looks at you and they have their ears pinned back and especially pointed downward, that is their most aggressive posture so look out!

We have had similar deer weirdness here too! We have lived here 10 going on 11 years. Deer are always here, Does and fawns, rarely a buck. Earlier this year, I was about to put the dogs out an noticed a Doe with 3 fawns, not even 40 ft from my back door. I stopped dead in my tracks as she started stomping her front hoof and snorting. The fawns ran up the cliff side and I ran back in the house. That angry Doe charged my back door throwing her whole body against it. I grabbed the dogs as they were going nuts, put them in their crates and called my hubby at work FREAKING out as I thought this deer was going to break the door down! I grabbed the shot gun, just in case, but she finally left. The door was bent to hell but it was being replaced from the Sandy damage anyway, thank goodness.

A few weeks later, I was on my way to the dentist, went out to my car and someone had hit a Doe and it was RIGHT behind my car, couldn't leave. It was still sort of alive so I called the game warden who came out and removed it. Not sure if was the same Doe but never saw the Doe and her fawns at my back door again!
