With a "fall-like" nip in the air, and a couple of mega-excited kids in the house (yes, I'm one of those "kids" 'round here), I opened up the summer bypass door on the Napoleon NZ3000 and built a small fire this evening. Man, oh man, is that living room gonna be cozy with that thing this winter!!

Thanks for the compliments.....I'll be sacking out on that couch in just a little while!

I thought you meant you were bangin' your head against the wall.==c
I should remind myself to not jump to conclusions so quickly.
Nice mancave. Except those fru-fru thingies on the mantle.
You let the wife in there, didn't you.;lol
Yes, Dave....I did....:(
But, she deserves it......she's been one patient little lady, and I know that you know that!!

I'm working on it as well as other things. My house was a shell when I bought it in nov 2011 so over been trying to finish all the little stuff left over as I've been doing most of it myself with the better half. I should have the hearth done next couple weeks. I run a granite company so it is going to be mostly granite. Can't wait to finish it.

One of my passions is stone masonry....I did ALL of my stonework, and it's all natural stone off of the mountains around our house......that being said, I CAN'T WAIT to see your hearth with that granite!! Keep me posted.....

It should be nice.. wish I had a bigger budget for it. The quarry we pull our product out of is across the valley from my house. I can sit on my deck and see it. Love knowing the granite comes from the same place as I live! Stone work is awesome! myself and my guys are granite curbing installers so interior work is a nice change.

Scotty, that's a beautiful room, man. I know it's been said by everyone on here, but that really is a great set up. Nice job, man. Kudos. Even the little stereo on the cart in the corner. You are a first class guy. I hope to get my situation up to those kind of standards. Maybe it sounds fruity, but you're an inspiration, man. I don't know you in real life, hell, it's the internet, for all I know you're a crappy husband and a butt hole of a dad, but based on what I've seen on here you're a good dude. Great job on that project.

Thanks, man! That means a lot to me! I try to do the best I can for my family.....that's all that any of us can do....
As for that little stereo, that's temporary....I wired the room for full surround sound, still have to buy the receiver and speakers for it yet......

That looks great!! I am so impressed with the stone work - really, really looks great! I have done a lot of cultured stone work but would love to use the real thing some day.

I am sure you have a post on here somewhere so can you add a link or explain the air intake/outlet system with the holes in the lower left and up top at the peak.

S.O., I'm between State College and Altoona.....familiar with that area?

FWIW, if I told the wife that she could decorate that room for Christmas tomorrow, she'd do it. She's THAT excited for it!

Bob, the stone registers on the the top and bottom of the fireplace are simply vents that allow air to move through the chase.j The actual heating aspect of that ZC fireplace comes from the box that is factory built around the fireplace. it has several 6" ducts. One duct supplys aire from the stove blower and lets the heat be pushed into the living room. The other two ducts can either be directed individually to other rooms with their own dedicated fans, or they can be piped into my forced air ducts and circulated throughout the whole house. I have yet to hook them up as I really don't need them yet, but they ARE stubbed into the basement. I'll probably get around to that in the next month or so. I'm going to dedicate BOTH lines into one blower, and distribute them to the kitchen and downstairs bathroom. Did you see my installation thread?

It's a really long thread but worth the read for anybody looking into installing a modern ZC firepace....

Your a bit west of me. A friend of mine ,a general surgeon, just moved out there. He is a wood burner too. Its nice to see a doctor out in the woods cutting trees down. My wife starts decorating for xmas the middle of november. Im not THAT anxious, but i let her have fun with it.

I like the way you did that room with the wood just on the floor and ceiling. Iv seen people do the walls as well and thats just "overkill" IMO. Too much wood is not good. Stone and glass mixed in go good to balance the wood.

I'm resisting the temptation to fire up the Fireview. I'm waiting on the new Woodstock stove.
