ok so i have a cumberland 3800MF, i was thinking this NEST might work? any one have any thoughts?

I have a Nest controlling my furnace and AC not connected to my stove. It is a great device. Saves a ton of money in the summer with the AC.

The Nest is 24v not millivolt.that most pellet stoves need.
The Ecobee EB-Stat-02 is one of the few that will do millivolt with the optional ac adapter. Also has a nice anti-short cycle delay of up to 20 mins which is similar to the "swing" setting that pellet stoves need too!

Do you then have to be under utility control when demand is high, or would that only be for A/C?
edit: Do you have NYSEG like me? I hadn't heard of that.
I have NYSEG but my provider or supplier whatever they call themselves is Green mountain energy, if demand was high it would i assume be for AC...nice to talk to a local here!

Know the stove well. Good parlor stove. Fast ignition and shut down times. Should work well on NEST. You will need 24v to power it. I have made a few relay power boxes for these. You can find the posts I'm sure.
Thanks Bowhunter1! I love the stove it's my pride and joy. Still can't believe I heated my whole house last winter with it and used zero oil. Can you or anyone explain to me the reason for putting a NEST on it. Thanks in advance

What are you guys burning this season? I'm trying to decide now. Just found Fireside Ultras at the local HD so we are going to try that out this weekend. Tried a lot last year, including cherry pits, this stove seems to burn everything great. Really liked the Vermonts though, which I will probably be getting a ton of next week. Just heard so much about the FU that I have to give them a try - especially at $219/ton.Just picked up my MF3800 yesterday. I probably won't be installing it til November due to a backload of projects and too much overtime at work. The St.Croix Hastings in the family room downstairs will have to carry me for now

The cherry pits were okay - I got them at a super discount (they ended up being around $1.59/bag) so I picked up a ton. Since they are hollow they take up more volume, but burn very fast. They had a fairly high ash level and we ended up mixing them 50/50 with other wood pellets. They were good for the price, but I wouldn't pay more than that. It is just nice that the Cumberland can burn them and does a good job at it.
I haven't see Barefoots or Currans in my neck of the woods - but always like to keep my eye out for pellets that others recommend. I just tried out Okanagans, Vermonts and Fireside Ultras the last two weeks. Vermonts are probably my favorite, but they all seem to burn really nice. The FU price is definitely the best, so that could be the deciding factor
