I am moving to a new house so I am looking to buy a insert for the new house. I am leaning towards a blaze king due to the burn times.

I found a used Princess for 2800 is this a fair price to a stove manufactured in 2011 with 1.5 seasons? Appears to be in good shape but have not seen it in person.

What is a new Princess going for on the east coast?

I would guess $3,300 new. Seems pretty steep for a used one. We would all like to recover most all of our money, but once it's used you just can't.

Sounds a little high to me, also, if new is $3300, but they are an in demand item. You are taking a risk on something used (and also what about the warranty, would you be getting any of that). I'd want to know why he's selling, and if it's not due to something wrong with it, I'd want to ask him outright, if there's anything wrong with it, to his knowledge.

BK VP has indicated here that new BK's get a 10 year warranty on the cat. I'd want to know beforehand, with something used, if I was getting that (or what's left of it). You might want to PM BK VP, ask him what kind of warranty you're inheriting and what he thinks of the whole deal.

It's being sold due to the owner moving and she does not want to leave it in the house because she is renting the home and insurance will not allow the tenants to use it. She said nothing is wrong with it and will let me start a fire in it.

Good point about the warrantee.

Do you get all the chimney pipe and stove pipe too? If so maybe a decent deal. That is a thousand bucks right there.

If no pipe is included might as well buy new.

I just finished shopping around recently.
Morgantown WV, Gettysburg PA, and Mt Airy Md are all about the same... 3,300.
I don't think there is much wiggle room in a new one.

I got a rough quote for a new Princess earlier this year for about 2700-2800.
Brandy spankin new.
Always be prepared to walk away if the deal isn't right.....and that doesn't seem right to me, unless it's got all the bells and whistles attached.

Has the dual fans and standard black door.

For an insert or a free stander? The insert should be a little higher than that.

Half of new if it's been used for a day or a year for me, WAY too high imo. I sold my Lopi Endeavor after two seasons for 1000.

I paid a lot less than 2800 for my new Princess when I bought it. It was a new floor model that had never been burned in.

I wouldn't pay more than $2,000 with the liner, I'd rather buy new if I had to pay any more. I paid less than that for mine new with a liner. I doubt anyone else offers more than that so that's what I'd offer and walk away if they don't go for it. Sounds like they don't have a lot of time to market it.

Congrats on the new place!
Better yet is you don't have to go through a rubber roof this time LOL.
A liner has it's own challenges.
What size is the clay tiles on the new place?
Good to see you around again.
If you an do it, go for the new. Nothing like new, and no surprises.
You know exactly what your getting.

Thanks! I have been around the whole time I just don't post much. Mostly because I am reading from my phone and its a pain.

The chimney is 13"x18" . Any problems getting a 6" liner down that? Should I go with flexible liner and insulate it or go with a insulated ridged?

I would love to buy new but I am cheap and am always trying to save money. But if they won't take 2,000 for it ill just buy a new one. This is the only used one I found in the past 3 months.

Where did you get yours from with the liner for less than 2800?

It was a group buy, one of the members here bought 5 BK's from the west coast before they closed that loophole.

13 x 18 will be fine to get a liner down.
I myself went with insulated rigid double wall, with a 5' pc of flex through the old smoke shelf to the insert. I love the way the rigid sweeps easier than the flex. And the smooth walls make for less build up.

I cant imagine anyone would pay her $2800... That's like a good sale price for a new one.. If she doesn't consider your 2k tell her good luck, and if it doesn't sell before you buy one you'll still take it for 1500.. Leave her your number
