Burn Baby Burn!

LOL!!!!!

I've been burning pellets since 2005 and have always stored them in the garage. So far no problems with critters or moisture.

I plan on storing the 4 tons of Somersets that are to be delivered today :) in the garage along with the five bags that are out there left over from last season.

I've stored pellets outdoors for years. Only had 1 instance where they made a small bed in between the bags, but they never chewed anything.

I hear ya on not wanting critters in your supply. Question is, knowing they just don't sleep there for 5 months, is where are they going to have breakfast lunch and dinner. No critters....

OMV said he had problems with mice rippin holes in his pellets! I have no clue though!::-)

I only have mice issues in my small engine equipment. Buggers like to eat the wiring and pack the blower housing full of stuffing. They sometimes get in the chickens feed too.

This won't help for mice in your pellet stash, but my neighbor used to raise chickens, she put cayenne pepper in the chicken feed, mice didn't like it, the chickens didn't care.

A while back we had bought a 50lb of dog food. After filling the dog's jar in the house, my wife decided to take the left over bag and set it on the concrete floor in the garage. A few months later when I went to grab the bag, nearly a quarter of the bottom was chewed off and the mice had been helping themselves rather generously. The pellets were not touched.

Keep your eye out for woodpeckers and beavers!!

Ya, they love small engine equipment, motorcycle wiring, my truck's interior, my old 96 Imp SS. EVERY FRICKEN YEAR they'd build nests in the heater blower squirrel cage. Think you gotta be a contortionist to work on a pellet stove? Fargin sumanabatch icehole mice!

I think cats and snap traps are your best defense. Certainly more satisfying than taking the deterrent route.

Never had an issue with pellet infiltration.

Guess I'm kind of a pellet mini pig now. Went from 1 1/2 ton last yr to 4 tons this year.

Thts a nice lookin stash there!!!

I used to store my pellets in my old farmhouse basement/cellar and mice chewed on the bottom layers of my stacks. Somewhere I heard that mice don't like dryer sheets. I bought a big pack of them at the dollar store and put a few down on top of the pallet before I put the bags down. After doing that I didn't have any more problems with mice chewing on the bags.

I have 6 tons in the garage / cellar; have not had a problem with mice getting into the pellets.

I have kept mine in my garage since 2008. No critters, no moisture issues. Never, but never put anything like birdseed, plants etc. in the garage. We had a good cat until last year. He brought me a lot of "presents". Now having an issue with chipmunks getting into the porch.

mothballs and peppermint oil should keep them away.... ya they made a mess out of mine. they avoided the plastic the pallets were wrapped with and went after the plastic bag the pellets were in. worst part is that let to much moisture in and ruined most f the bag

X2 - we keep ours in the garage, and if we forget to set traps in the fall, we'll end up with mice. I think they like to bed in the pellets.........
