I am in the process of installing a Lopi M520 where our old Earthstove was. I had a damper in the flue about 12" up from the stove on the Earthstove. Would it be wise to install one also on the Lopi?
Thanks

I'd say that would depend on the actual overall height of your connector pipe & chimney system. If you are near or over 22 feet total, it may be wise to have that damper in case you need it. If you're between, say, 15 (or your recommended MINIMUM height) & 22 feet, it's probably not necessary...

Thanks for the reply DAKSY. The flue is just 15' so will probably leave it out.

What type of stove is it, older stoves needed the damper to help control the fire no matter how short the chimney.

It's a Lopi M520.

Not familar with it, I ment is it just a older non EPA air tight with a baffle in it.
All the older stoves used dampers, the lack of the damper is for the newer stoves.

Yes it is a older stove. I finished the install this morning. I went ahead and installed a damper in the flue in case there's a need.
Thanks for replying.
