The 4.5 Subaru engine is quiet and starts first pull. I know that will not always be the case. So far so good. 375 lbs so you can pull it around the yard if need be. I almost pulled it in my shed by my myself but too much incline. Plenty of power splitting big Mulberry rounds. Strained a little but went right through.

Best purchase you have ever made if you plan to keep heating with wood. Bought mine in 1988 and split some with it this afternoon. I did replace the B&S engine with a Chonda for $99 a few years ago. After how my shoulders were feeling in 1988 I can't imagine I would still be burning wood without that marvelous machine after 200 cords.

Like my neighbor says, "if you can use 'chinery. Use 'chinery."

For sure we waited too long before buying a splitter. Once we had it we questioned our saneness on not buying sooner. It surely does save the shoulders, arms, wrists, and back. That is, it can save those body parts so long as you learn how to use it correctly. There are little tricks that save you a lot.

I put buying a splitter off several years as well. I haven't regretted buying my splitter once.
