outrageous shipping cost is so discouraging for us Canadians!

Hi,
I was about to order a Avery Gleason auger motor for my Fahrenheit furnace to replace the Markor motor until I was sent this reply;

(Hi Ivanhoe, The motor price is $74.99 net each and the USPS shipping cost will be $50.25. Please let me know if you would like to order this motor. Thanks, Barb Zelehowsky Gleason Avery)

I never expected that steep of shipping cost, OUCH! It's sad you could order from China at less, less, less amount. The UPS cost was about $35.00 but we Canadians get billed again at the door so I refuse all UPS shipping. Sorry for <>venting but where are they coming with these outrageous numbers......

I hear ya brother ! I lost about 20% of my sales when the rates went up last January. Some of the rates doubled !!
It's not just Canada though. All international rates increased drastically.

in one sentence you say usps and in the next you say ups , which are you referring too ?
I insisted on USPS and got the $50.00. I also got the UPS quote of $35.00 but the double dipping in billing charges isn't the way to go.
FWIW it should only cost Avery Gleason $35.39
That's about right but at the door UPS extra charge is not my cup of tea.

Cross border shipping includes import duties and fuel is $4.00 per gallon + (in many places) so that is figured in to the shipping... isn't there somewhere in Canada that sells pellet stove parts?

Your shipping costs a lot because you have free healthcare and free college. It gets paid for via VAT's from goods in.

Welcome to socialism. It gets paid for somewhere...

Shipments from the States to Canada include the charge for the shipper acting as customs agent. Used to be $35 per shipment with UPS when we were shipping to Canada.

Who has free college?

Who said anything about VAT's?

I thought this thread was about USPS shipping rates?

OK boys, break it up. Nobody wants a war here! Welcome to a world of not so free trade and inflation. You think its bad now? The game isn't started and the fat lady has not sung the National Anthem. Memo: START STOCKPILING And that includes pellets.

No free college here! I will check out the Canadian vendor but I'm looking for a Avery Gleason 902A drive so might not be a stock item?

That was the USPS price I quoted
How did you come up with that price? I was quoted the $50 or so to P0H-2A0 postal code.

IIRC, Mike from Englander said that they sell stoves & parts in Canada now too.

we do have an outlet for our stoves parts which ship from canada the order is placed through us though. the issue would be though if a part for one of my stoves would match specs for his FT unit (i dunno the unit so i couldn't say)

FWIW kinda makes one wonder just what the heck NAFTA is supposed to do for john q public either here in the US or up in maple leaf land.

and also FWIW the comment about the vat for free college and the like IMHO was a little out of line for a thread in the main forums. if you wish to discuss this angle its best to start a thread about it in the ash can.

just my 2 cents (or whatever the canadian equivalent is based on current exchange rates) ;)

How do i go about this method as i'm not familiar with? Would Avery Gleason object to this?

we carry a 2rpm CW but its an MK motor not a gleason avery one. i suppose the big deal would be to ensure that the motor would mate to the mounting device of the stove properly. other side is ordering from me would probably not save you much if anything that motor bought through us is $130.98 + s/h 12.50 (143.48 USD)

i'd check out Krooser's link above he may have your best bet though i didn't peruse the link

Avery Gleason had the opportunity to ship it to you at USPS cost ~ they, however, marked it up. Sorry
I see. I did let them know how unhappy I felt about their shipping rates:mad:
