Hello

Looking to replace the 1 piece curved glass in a Whitfield WP2

Got a quote from one place in IL for $2250.00 ! ! ! LOL The whole stove was not that much back in the early 1990's when this was made!

Anyone know if there is a reasonable replacement or a door with the 3 separate pieces of glass?

We get that curved glass for the Advantage III straight from Lennox but even then it isn't cheap, the part number for it is 12146402 . A WHOLE lot less than those people wanted to charge you but it will still cost you a lot. I did find a place once before that had made a modified bracket that you put in the door frame which held three pieces of glass, essentially turning the stove into a II-T. I don't know if those people are still around but it is an idea you could probably try yourself. An entire new door would be just as expensive if not more so even with three piece glass than the single piece of curved glass is.

Thanks for the info! $474 list price for the one piece but it may be the only way to get it!

Hello

Luckily I found the Whitfield part scrounging around. It was in their DC warehouse! So it went from there to Tennessee and then to me!

Prep is the time consuming part. Pull off the old door gasket, unscrew the glass supports and glass support gasket and remove the old glass and then the old glass gasket.

Then using the wire wheel, remove the old silicone and clean up with acetone.

VHT Flame Proof 2,000 Deg F car header paint on both sides of the glass support brackets and the inside of the door protect it from rusting up too quickly.
Masking the gasket channels so no paint gets in there,

Then some clear high temp silicone and Grapo-Glass graphite impregnated gasket for the door.

The glass comes with a 3 sided gasket. No gasket on the top for the air wash. Then screw back the brackets and set back on the stove to dry overnight!

Also had to get some more 4mm bolts for the galss support top bracket since the others were in bad shape!

nice work.

I bought a Advantage 3 last winter for $250, I swapped the door with my Advantage 2T with no problems, just's lift's off the hinge....but....there was a gap issue near the latch as my stove maybe getting a little warped as the door catch's, feel's like the bottom when i close it, I had the stove running and noticed a lazy flame, maybe just neeed's a new door gasket, maybe i'll play with it this fall.
