I'd simply cut a cookie off the end. You can later burn those cookies. They work great for daytime and also when you don't need a full load of wood. In addition, it is easier, usually, to cut off 2" rather than cutting it in half or the other dimension.

Three 6" cookies makes for one 18" log.

Yep I cut the least I can to make my 16 inch piece.
You end up with a lot of 3 or 4 inch thick rounds. Great to burn them too.

How deep is your stove for N/S loading? If it is more than 12"deep if you cut them in half you would have the option of loading N/S.

For my stove, I would do 12X12 cause I could load em north-south. Also, you can stack 12" long splits just fine.

Well ! this dumb a$$ got on a roll, and forgot to cut the round to length before splitting, than had to recut 2" off all the splits

Yeah , I was glad to have it when I screwed up , It was pretty quick n easy , I love that multi jig , use it a lot. No bending over
I have more splits in the stacks from old the stove that will need trimming

whenever I have the end of a log that is too long I cut it halfway and cross stack in the middle of the pile.
Figure a few N-S loads on occasion or smaller reload will be needed when picking through

Looking good guys and great answers, I think I'm gonna make an area where i Can shingle out some cookies as well as make a special 12" stack.....I love your ideas and HD Rock, that's a pretty cool rack that looks like it works well......

I burned some short chunks the other day, lined em them up n/s in the stove worked out good ,like full splits
I always cut odd length's to 17" , cuz my stove is square 18", then throw the chunks in the crates

What size box on your Lopi? My Princess is 2.8 and it's 18 in square too, I try and cut my wood 17 inches too if I can. I burn shorties in shoulder season.
