...that I could burn a different stove each season and really find out which one i liked best. I mean don't get me wrong I LOVE my BK Princess insert, but I guess that I "wonder" what a different stove would burn like?!? I am not even sure that any dealer would really know how different stoves burned not that I would trust them anyway. Just thinking out loud...

I was going to say maybe you could get a part time job in a stove store..lol.

I'd like to try a tube stove. Since the '84 Englander, all I've burned is cats. Never burned an EPA non-cat. :(
Maybe a CL deal that I can't refuse on a nice one will come along, but here it's mostly old stuff.

I just started burning last year and find myself looking at stoves and wanting to try others as well lol. Could use one just a bit bigger maybe.

I'm doing my best to try every stove I can get my hands on! >>

You're doing well.

What qualifies as 'something cool' in trade for the 'Cod? Is this just to make room for something new?

The Spectrum we have at our weekend place is the first non cat EPA stove I have burned. It is nice to have something different, and it is a pretty sweet, easy to burn stove.

Oh, who knows?
I fired it up last night, I might be having second thoughts now! What a beautiful fire!

There's a benefit to owning a 600# stove. You don't want to move it too frequently.

Definitely not like buying a car where you can test drive anyone you want. I guess eye appeal and your homes specific heating needs would fall into play, then of course hearth.com to fill in the rest.

Agree, getting to try out a variety of any new tool / device before purchase would be ideal. I've done this with rental shops before but obviously success there depends on what you are trying out.

As far as the innuendo, lets keep jokes like that out this season.
