It appears my house has become a favored wintering spot for the neighborhood ladybugs. I've found several random clumps of ladybugs throughout the house. Anyone else have a similar issue? Do they do any harm?

Probably Asian Beatles which look like lady bugs. We have them bad at times.

Best thing to do is find the small crevices they are getting in at.
I collect them in a small plastic container with a lid, then take them out and release.
I got bite by one a couple weeks ago while it landed on me outside. Now I have a container with some in, and didn't feel like letting them go.
Be careful vacuuming, as they put off a scent when they feel attacked which brings even more, so change the bag quickly.

I think that RSNovi is correct- the invasive Asian ones invade your home and bite, not the native ones.

Remember they do not like lemon scent. You can make some with lemon scented dish soap and water. Spray where they are landing on the outside of the house. You can also wait until just before dark and using a shop vac, suck them up as they will be near the house and barely under the dirt.
Another thing is Terro ant dust. This stuff works really nice. You can put it out and it will last through many rains. It will keep out ants and those asian bugs too.
Yes, the do bite and they will stink if you molest them.

I'd bite and stink too.
We usually get invaded this time of year but so far none have showed up. I think that's going to change though, I saw they are beginning to harvest beans just down the road. That seems to rile them up and they start looking for new homes.
We have a vacuum that's only purpose is to trap the ornery buggers. I used to try and fight them but I gave that up...just too many of em. Now I'll just get the ones that make it inside.
