"such little reward"? That one crotch had a quarter of a cord of wood in it! I will be going back to my old method of noodling out the crotch with the chainsaw, after this, though.

Guaranteed you wont break this one.... ;)

Those monster mauls are terriblr

The vibration is horrible and there super heavy

You ever used one? Sure it weighs more but will go through stuff that other mauls just cant.I'd rather swing it 2-3 times & be done with it than keep swinging a lighter maul 10 times or more & not going anywhere.

I can't even hoist one for a swing anymore. Like lifting a Volkswagen. <>

Only need mine 4-5 times a year now thankfully, but still glad to have it.Mainly you just drop it,gravity does the rest ;lol

Used one in collegse and maybe somewhere else?? We use to sell firewood in the forestry club. Sometimes we sold one year dry wood others it was greener??

Back in early 00s I think we got $100 a truck bed delivered. And we used the guys with the biggest trucks to make sure they got their monies worth. Usually an 8 ft bed leveled off and stacked.

I don't mind crotches . . . with the hydraulic splitter . . . just if it's tough I tend to nibble away at it by slabbing off some splits from it vs. trying to run it right down the middle.

Actually, Thistle... I've seen a good number of those monster maul's with broken and repaired handles. The one I borrowed from a buddy had a new handle welded on, where the original had broken off. In any case, these were my observations:

1. There were a few gnarly or large pieces, which would take several swings with my smaller mauls, which the Monster would go thru with one swing.
2. For 99.5% of what I split, it was total overkill, and much harder on my body than using a regular maul.
3. That stupid %^&*(^& round handle just pissed me off! I'm used to a handle with an oval cross section, and find that the maul just lands plumb, with the proper handle on it. With that godforsaken round handle, I had to always be looking at how I was holding it, to ensure the head would come down with the pointy end first.

Mine wouldnt've broken if some ignorant poophead hadn't backed over it years ago, Just one more reason I don't loan out anything to others anymore. Not even family. If I have the free time I take the tools over,do the work & bring them home.

LoL, same here. And one of my brothers is the worst offender.

I'll loan out just about anything to a good friend or family. I can usually buy new tools, but not new friends and family. My FIL borrows a lot of tools from me, and stuff doesn't always come back quite right, but he's always the first to offer me help when I need it.
