A Classic Hmmmmm

Some of our pro-EPA era stove lovers say toss that old Classic and get with the new.I wonder what the Antique Road Show folks would say about some of these old Classic stoves.

I like my older stove. I can load it up and go to work, it runs 12 hrs before having to add wood. I don't need a bunch of probes and thermometers or even a blower. The convection from the louvers and shroud will blow your hair stright up. It heats the whole house (1250 sq/ft) with ease, has a great thermostat and ash pan that can go for a few days..

We can and do run our modern Alderlea the same way. We don't run the blower 90% of the time, it convects very well. No need for a fancy modern thermostat, the stove's mass holds the heat and releases it later. Room temps are quite comfortable .Although I have thermometers we mostly run the stove visually, by that nice, clean, airwashed, ceramic-glass view. It does all this putting out about 1/60th the emissions of an old stove.

I never heard of your stove but it sounds like a good old stove.That gets the job done.

I'm gonna take some pictures of it. I see one forsale from time to time. This one must not have had much use. I have it looking like brand new. I am amazed at how well it heats and how little i have to mess with it once it gets hot.

It's a cabinet stove. Sounds similar to the Ashley and Arrow units. I can guarantee it won't show up on the Antiques Road Show in our lifetimes.

Yes, it is a cabinet stove and similar to an Ashley. My buddy had an Ashley and I really liked it so when I came across the Woodcheif I bought it. I heat my home with it, it's from the mid 1980's. If the Road Show is in the Spring I'll disconnect it and haul it over there along with my Monster Maul
