The vast majority of the butt ends do have the right colors and ratios of sapwood to heartwood rings for oak.

The nearest two rounds that show only bark look more like maple.

Looks like there may be 2 trees in that pile. Some looks like red oak to me, but as TP says, the two closer rounds look different.

Free wood, grab it! Looks like Red all the way from back here.....

The colors and bark look like 2 trees. The sheer volume of wood relative to the size of the rounds looks like more than 2 trees to me.

bucked already. no-brainer. don't make me get in my car and drive there. ;)

HAHA. I JUST SAW THAT ONE ON MY SAVED CRAIGSLIST ON MY FAVORITES BAR. TOO FAR FROM ME. I'M A LITTLE UPSTATE NY. IF YOU KEEP WAITING, SOMEONE ELSE WILL GRAB IT. THATS AN EASY SCORE. GOOD LUCK

JUST SAW WHERE YOU LIVE. I WOULD GET THAT TONIGHT. WOULD TAKE YOU 30 MINUTES.

When I saw the link to NY Craig's List I was gonna tell him it was crap wood and that he should avoid it like the plague, until I saw that the wood was out on the island.
