kind of funny since you don't have (smellvision) but when cut, the smell reminds me of oak boards.

no.. I am requesting an ID, not saying what i think it is. Just smells kind of good when cut. Oak is pretty sparse in my neighborhood.

I have a harder time saying White Ash, Im not as familiar with it, but you have great detailed pics of the grain and bark.
The bark is thicker and rougher than Green ash.
Here I dont know Butternut from Ash with the compound leaves up in the canopy.
We've had Butternut here but I think over the years they have all died off. So what I see here and there is Ash.
I thought I cut down a dead standing last fall but after a year its still not quite ready to burn. Must have been alive.

Looks like some ash I just came across although I dont really see the tight growth rings.

the first pic is a two yr old log I finally got out of the woods. the second pic is a blown down tree I cut last week, so that was alive this summer. That random pic is the same age as the first pic. I just was able to get all but that one(1st. pic) to my splitting area bucked and stacked two yrs. ago. Ash seems to be a good choice when it gets cold out. thanks for the help.

Nice Ash! ;0

Indeed some very nice ash. White ash.

Its Ash. The bark has trademark "x"'s on it. That and it looks exactly like the Ash that I've been slaving over for a few months.
