First night with my new Mt. Vernon

So I was a little apprehensive last night to go to bed with the stove running but after reading many posts on here saying it was okay and being reassured by the installer. I programmed the thermostat and went to sleep. I have to say I slept like a warm baby! The stove is in the living room which was about 75 degress and the bedrooms are upstairs and it was 73 degress! I think it was about 10 degrees outside this morning so I could not be more happy.

I am sure I may have to play around with the programmed settings to get it where I would like it. I topped off the pellets this morning and left for work - wishing I could work from home in my nice warm and cozy house.

It's a good stove. Our bedroom is usually around 63...otherwise I'd sweat to death. We have a 100 pound retriever that doubles as a heating pad.

Plenty of info here on the site on how to tinker with your mt vernon.

I personally run mine on softwood (longest time between auto clean) at a flame height of 2 on auto. The flame height is really your feed rate.

I think most of us have went through worrying about our stoves when 1st installed. I never worried about running overnight while I was there, but did when left on while gone. Got over that quick, when you come home and house is same temp as when you left what a feeling!!
Congrats on your new pellet stove, you will love it!

Beautiful install. My mt Vernon is set at 72 degrees downstairs. Upstairs is about 65. I run in softwood mode at +1 and that seems to work well for me. You'll get more comfortable with it the longer you have it. Just remember, your old oil boiler has an open flame as well and you trust that.
