Hey,

As some of of know we have a Quadrafire Contour pellet stove. It was manufactured in April of 2001. We are thinking about upgrading to possibly a Quadrafire SanteFe or the equivalent. Is there a major difference as far as efficiency of these two models? Our house is just under 1000 sq ft.

Judging by the manufacturers claimed max output of 30k to 34k on the Santa Fe doesn't sound like a noticeable difference. I wouldn't qualify this as an upgrade by any stretch.

As for efficiency, it is difficult to put a factual number behind each stove as testing methods are not necessarily consistent. Id be inclined to think that assuming a 3/4 efficiency is a fair bet.

The classic bay would be an upgrade if you had the money to drop.

Are you looking for more heat or to burn fewer pellets?

What can a Classic Bay be had for?
2600$ retail but I know my dealer sells em at 2300$. my sante fe was 2000$ for comparison.

Both would be nice. :) A little more heat is what we are after. Our stove on high is pretty loud.
I know the feeling! My stove has been on high non-stop since yesterday afternoon. I am limited by fore/aft distance in front of the vertical vent, though... the Castile seems to be the biggest stove that fits.

Since you mention noise, the CB also has a separate fan speed control. It gives more options in the heat vs. noise tradeoff.
