I've gotten a lot of red oak less white but it's good stuff. I didn't catch where that came from, your place or local score?

I love Red Oak too, but it takes longer to season. My son, in the pic, he does all the work 'cause I am old and have RA, have been fortunate to be able to cut at his boss's place for the last 4 years. Not far from home and a beautiful place. Unfortunately for him, he has had Red Oak go down in storms twice and his White Oaks are all dying one by one. Not sure if it is old age or disease, but we have just barely been able to keep up during the last 3 years.....ugh, such a problem, ;)

Son's boss is not a burner I guess, good luck for you!

No! And it just amazes me. He lives at the edge of a mature timber, just a beautiful place, and does not burn wood. I have always wanted to be able to go out my back door to cut wood, and never have been able to pull that off. For all you guys who cut on your own property, thank God for what you have....it has to be really special. (Thinking of you BS, Zap, and a bunch of others.;))

Nice looking score! White oak is definitely good stuff. I share your wish to be able to go out back and cut, maybe one day!

Thanks. Don't wait too long like I did. The time comes when it is just to late.

Nice! I am harvesting my first White Oak this year. Looking forward to burning it in 2017 or so.
Don't tell the boss man too much about how nice the wood heat is.

FF, whose the boss?

How did the big, brown Ford do? Looks pretty stout.

Both my son and I have small Trucks, Ford Explorer SportTrac and Doug a Nisan Frontier. Our wood hauler (we bought it together) is the the old Ford F250, 1988. It will haul anything you can fit in it and it barely levels out and rides good. Great old truck. 12 degrees F this morning, it started like a champ. It is worthless on snow and ice 'till you get a load in him and them he goes anywhere. Wish he was 4 wheel drive but one of our trucks is always there to give him a hand. We Hettinger boys name our trucks and his name is Everette.;)
