I recently bought a used Harman P61A pellet stove and am doing some cleaning and giving it the once over before installing it. I took the auger out to clean it and the chute. When I removed it, there was high temp rtv sealing it and part of an old O-ring appeared as I scraped it off. The O-ring was not complete so I'm guessing someone slathered on the rtv to seal it and called it good. I have looked everywhere for info on the auger and if it actually requires an O-ring, but nothing shows one or if it should even be sealed with rtv...In the picture there is a groove machined on both sides of the auger bearing that may hold an O-ring. Does anyone have any idea if an O-ring or rtv is required to seal it where the auger slides into the pipe?
