Placed my order for the season on 9/12. Was initially told 1 - 5 weeks, that was 7 weeks ago. At 4 weeks I emailed supplier to ask whats up ..... they assured me within 1 - 2 weeks delivery would be made. The additional 2 weeks came and went yesterday - email to supplier on Monday asking for a status, no reply. Emailed again today asking for status and if there is a problem I needed to be made aware of.

At this time I am not going to disclose the name of the supplier I ordered from but I'm starting to get nervous. they initially assured me they had the product on site, then advised me when prividing a status 2 weeks ago that my product was on site. God help them if they contact me and advise me they do not have the pellets to fufill my order.

I am waiting too, ordered from a large supplier in Ct on 9/15. They never answer the phone, and don't reply to emails with any details.
First year for me, a little nervous myself reading all the threads saying no pellets in Ct.

I feels sorry for you guys that have to deal with this. My local Menards has 19 pallets of Somersets just sitting there. Well I guess I'm not sure how many are still for sale, since 2.5 pallets are mine. I just let them store them and pick some up when I need them.

Ordered mine from MWP directly as they started local deliveries this year. Only 2 week waiting period so I should be getting my load sometime next week. They said cash or cashier's check only. Saving myself $90 for my usual from only 10 miles down the road. My money is still local & I'm saving.

Starting to remind me of the '08 -'09 winter ......... hoping it doesn't get that bad again ...............................

I got 1/2 of my pellets so far. Delivery truck had a hydraulic problem 2 weeks ago when I was suppose to get 6 pallets of LaCretes. Got 3 pallets with the other 3 coming next week.

Local Menards had nothing earlier this week seem to have lots of pellets now, The price went up 24 dollars a ton though. The brand name is Indek.

Got my 3 ton here and will grab another ton...when I can afford it. Learned from last year order early. Only my second year.

Is It south shore wood pellets. They finally called me to tell me they were coming.

I made other arraignments and glad I did.

It's not fun having to wait 2 months. Of course it's not there fault they just are not getting product to them.

Well I don't care, have mine.:p Sorry,as where I live there is no delivery.Yoall heard me wine last season,as I had none and had to pick up 10-15 bags every payday. This year I talked the local ace manager to get them in early, and yes I had to pay more(same price as last year) but have 4 ton in basement. But last year I was the sorry one, just the way money flows. To those that have theirs"in storage"just because you ordered and paid for them, they are not opligated to store them until you need them.Upon notification you usually have 30 days to pick them up,or they sell them.Just a thought.

Been heating home w/pellets for 10 years - the entire house solely by pellets for last three. I normally get my entire stash (4 1/2 tons) by mid-Summer so as not to get caught up in the fall frenzy panic and/or a pellet shortage, real or imagined (remember 2008?). So I get lazy and place my order w/dealer back in Sept for Oct delivery - no worries, right?

Day before delivery, dealer calls explaining that they're unable to get deliveries from their supplier (LG out of Canada) for some reason and are not sure when or if they can now. Okay, no problem I decide to go with my dealers second choice pellet - Currans (also produced regionally close to where I live). Yeah, they're ashy and not the hottest pellet, but my Enviro Maxx will chew threw them and they are dirt cheap around here. I'm not worried because my dealer has 'always' had these in stock, year round for the last 10 years.....but now they are out of stock, not one bag and Curran can't deliver until mid-December!

Now I start hearing rumors of a possible pellet shortage - different locations around the northeast. Never had to worry before, even back in 2008 since I was partially heating house w/pellets and had enough at that time. Third week in October, no pellets in my house - okay I'm jumping on the bandwagon and joining the pellet panic party - off to the big box stores (ugh!).

Must be my lucky day because the local Home Depot has tons and tons of Blazers for $239 / ton - not a bad deal at all. So now I have my stash, but why is my Home Depot stocking pellets from Oregon when there are plenty of mills around here? Shortage? who knows. Sorry for the book, but word of advice of any new pellet stove burner out there reading this....buy your pellets early so you can relax :)

Have to agree with him.But also learned that what it says on the bag does not mean that is where it comes from.Lat year we had this discussion about oakies, because the ones I got were from bc(really good) and the ones back east came in different bag. They were from the south. The parent company has bought many companys in the us.Plus companies are still playing the game of shipping products away to raise the product selling price, geting tired about this type of thinking, will do it later.bye

I have 5 tons of Somersetts coming this morning. $224 per ton and a pretty good deal. For the small delivery fee and the fact I get a 10% veteran discount it was a no brainer. It would have cost me at least $16 to $20 bucks in diesel dragging them back myself on a trailer not counting my time. Not having to handle 5 tons one bags at a time = Priceless! Plus I will have them piggy back fork lift them right to where they will live not far from my stove. Only time I'll touch them is putting them into the hopper. I unloaded a ton of Pro's already myself and this will bring me to 6 ton total. Not sure how many tons the Harman P68 will use this first season but I think I have it covered. I'd rather have a surplus than scrabbling around mid winter looking for them in panic mode with the wife ticked off because she's cold. I am planning to do this in the spring also to have next year handled. I want to figure out how many tons I'll use first. I have plenty of inside storage area.

Trying to buy a product manufactured locally or regionally should be a no brainer imho. Purchasing your favorite pellets that are coming from across country seems like a waste of ressources.

A big box national chain here have a brand of pellets available in all of their stores and on their web site. But the 2 or 3 stores of that chain that are near my place also have another brand of pellets that are manufactured locally. Those are sold only in those 2-3 stores, but are not an official product the chain offers. It's a local deal. At the same price, I will take those over the official product, which is coming from another plant 200 miles away.

Bags not sure how big your house is but 6 tons is more then I use in upstate NY last winter an I have just under 2000SF. I do like the Set's they burn clean and great heat. the P68 is a big stove an can eat lots of pellet is you have a big house. When my pellets are delivered the put then on my driveway with the fork lift an I move them with a pallet jack. Once in the garage I move then one ton at a time to the stove room. $224 a ton is great for Set's.

If you have inside storage could have gotten 10 tons sets and not have to worry about next year at all. would have saved of shipping also.

I have over 11 tons at the house right now. That will cover this year and next year.

welcome to the forum and great stove and great pellets!!!

Update!
They couldn't bring them today and ask if I would be willing to have them delivered tomorrow. So I said yes and they offered another discount. So I had them add 2 more tons so 6 tons will be here first out tomorrow morning. Now I will have 7 tons total. I do have plenty of inside storage so it's not a problem having some leftovers sitting around. Trying to get a head start and figure it all out. I am not sure this P68 is going to be a 1 bagger per day in the cold.

I am heating a 2 story at 2300 SQ FT. It's doing great on the cold nights so far and not using a whole bag. My home is bigger than 2,300 SQ FT but that is what I am mainly wanting to heat. If all goes well I will open up the great room. Baby steps!

Thanks for the Welcome and I really appreciate everyone here. Thanks Again, Bags or Jesse

PS Skier76, Already been there and done that staring at the fire all warm and fuzzy!

Sorry 8 tons total. I can not type and the hunting and pecking doesn't treat me too well either.

You should use about 2 bags a day in the real cold depending on the house layout an insulation. Once there at your house, 8 tons on hand before frost should make you a pellet pig. Few votes an some dues an your in LOL

I 'ordered' about a month ago and was told about 6 weeks before my tonnage comes in. I'm expecting next week into the 1st week or so of nov to get my call to set up delivery. I have a ton of chow on hand, so i'm not really in a rush until December at this point... I actually took my stove apart last night for a big cleaning and all my gaskets crumbled to hell, so i'm working on finding a good source for replacement felt gaskets that aren't $80 a piece. ridiculous markup.

oil pig is on for 63*. hasn't run much.

This is assuming a similar product. We have a local mill open a dew years back. Their product is $284 a ton, Blazer DF shipped up cost only 296 a ton and burn much cleaner and hotter. I bought both in an attempt to stay local as you mention, and hedge my bets at the same time. I am not at all impressed with the local Pellets. Next year I will only purchase Blazer if they are still offered. You can only give so much of a home team discount before you are hurting yourself.

I feel for everyone up there. I do not understand why the pellet situation is what it is for you all. Makes no sense to me whatsoever. A larger following here on the forum are pellet burners up there in areas where people are having issues getting them. What a fiasco!

If I owned the pellet companies I would take a look at where the large market is located. Sure the price per bag might be a bit higher due to shipping a longer distance. More simply, why have to ship that far to begin with. If donuts were unable to be supplied for the demand you would think they would open more bakeries in town. Especially, if there are tons of people willing to buy more and they can not even get them. Go figure!

Sounds and looks like a bunch of red tape and crap is going on. Where is anyone's common sense and decent courtesy these days? I just do not understand why everything has to be so backwards, redundant, and counter productive. There is no shortage on junk pellets can be or are made from. The possibilities are limitless to a degree. If I could burn a pellet mix of say: paper, grass, leaves, and wood that is engineered to perform like other common pellets for half the cost I would be all over it. Who wouldn't? Even if I had to do a stove modification spending some money in order to burn these new cheaper pellets made from whatever. Soon enough they will be importing pellets from over seas that we will buy made of material shipped from here to begin with. Rant over.
