South African born. Have lived in South Africa, Germany, now Michigan. First winter in my own home (2006) I used a St Croix Corn burner exclusively for heat. Well, the corn price went from $1.89/bushel to $10 in 18 months... Second winter I installed a Morso 7110 wood burning stove. Heated the winter of 2007 24/7 with this stove and kept the house comfortable at all times. I did find that one can only get a realistic 4-6 hour burn (under perfect conditions with perfect wood) with this stove, so continuously tending the stove cut into my leisure time. With this experience, I decided to upgrade to a Pacific Energy T5 this past summer. Much bigger firebox which will accept longer splits loaded end on (instead of across the stove). The biggest advantage of the stove is that the baffle on the top of the firebox does not slope down significantly at the back, this provides much more space for the load of wood. Looking forward to the winter of 08 !
