Into the 4th decade of a great marriage, making our home at Still Point--our 20 acre patch of paradise where we live off-grid on the banks of the Yukon River. We depend on wind, sun and diesel for our power, and wood for heat. (And diesel genset has a cooling/heating loop in the heat sink--keeping the genset warm for starting, and losing its heat to the heatsink when running to recharge the batteries.)
Currently we have a Tarm Solo Plus 40 gasification boiler, now in its 9th year, with 850 gallon storage. Augmented with two Vermont Castings wood stoves, and one little Jotul. Coldest winter day so far hit -50C (-58F). (Just in case, we have Viessmann oil boiler. Also have solar heat array for DMHW in the summer.)Interact
