I usauly burn my wrist or forearm 2 or 3 times a year whilst loading the stove. Although this year I'm still unscathed. Hence I just Jinxed myself today. Anyone else yet unscathed from the seansoal scar?. Ty.

I made it about 2 weeks this year. Ouch. My situation doesn't really count. 1st year with a side loader. Still learning.

Burned my left hand a while back, glove was on my right hand and I went to position a split better with my left hand! Guess I should put gloves on both hands, of course I've learned nothing since I still only put a glove on my right hand.

I don't typically get burned maybe just once a season. I'm not too cavalier when it comes to putting my hand in the firebox. I more or less toss them in and then use the poker to position things. I get more worried about the eyes when you have poppy wood shooting sparks. A burn on your skin you recover from

Burned my thumb and i burn my hand occasionally.Learning to put gloves on and took andirons out.

I don`t have any burns as of yet. Now striking my head on the loading door would be another story. My wife on the other hand has burned herself 3 times. Once just to see if the stove top was hot. At least she gets it though.

I managed to go last year unscathed, but this year I already have had a small burn. It was my own fault for rushing things and not opening the stove door fully.

Did the same thing, forgot I only had one glove on

Not yet (jinx). Im usually good for two to three nasty ones during the year, funny thing is, the darn gloves are right there however my laziness prevails and burns occur.

I have a 2 inch burn at the elbow. Did it 2 weeks ago. I have extra long gloves which work great, but somehow I just need to get in there and move stuff around.

Darling wife 1, Me 0 -- so far...

No burns here yet. Let's hope it stays that way.

Got a complimentary pair with the stove

#2 this year....and I use welder's gloves dammit.... :shut:

I continually am shocked at my own laziness when I get burned despite the pair of welder's gloves that are always right next to the stove. Luckily my first burn this year was mild enough to heal quickly but painful enough to make me wear gloves for a while.

Stove gloves are hanging right next to the stove- two pretty good burns on the left hand so far- just a quick load before going outside to split. Readjusting to having a side loader once again after having a top loader for several years. I am still waiting for the day when I quickly reach to close the side door and manage to get the right hand :)

My three year old often comes to watch me load the stove and provides a reminder that "Daddy needs to wear the gloves"- obviously she was not there when I burned myself.

OUCH!!

Two years without any burns . . . wear gloves, don't spend too much time sticking my hand in the firebox, use a shovel to move things around if need be and I try to remember that the stove is probably pretty darn hot so I avoid leaning up against it or resting against it. ;)
