Hi,
I recently bought a home that has a Trailblazer pellet stove. I know absolutely NOTHING about these stoves (my first house). I was thinking it might be worthwhile to hire someone to service it - clean it out, make sure it works, etc. And, to show me how it works - of course, like many others, I do not have a manual. I don’t even know how to turn it on, light it or use it. There are actually some pellets still in the top - I guess that is the hopper. And there is a lot of ash at the bottom when I open the front door. Those of you who recommend vacuuming, do you use a shop vac or just a regular home vac?
Any advice to get going? It is snowing today and it is bound to get colder soon, and it is the only source of heat in the family room - the main room I use for tv, work, and just lounging about.
I appreciate all advice.
Nancy

No I would not use a household vacuum. Most of us a shop vac with the HEPA or drywall filter. Yes I would have it looked at by a professional before
I used it. This is a link to another discussion about Trailblzer pellet stove.

might have to cut and paste this.

I would absolutely get a pro out there; preferably someone recommended by a person who owns a pellet stove already. I would think it would be impossible to figure it out without a manual. Any money left over to buy your own pellet stove? My guess is no, I know we had nothing left when we bought our first home. I don't think it's a good sign they didn't even clean the stove out. Since it's your only method of heating that room, it would be nice to have something you could count on.

This stove is a very primitive model.. Not much to it. Which in part, makes it unsafe. Positive pressure unit. Leaks are not good on these at all.

I commented on the old post.. It would be better for you to sell this unit on Craiglist/Ebay and buy a used Englander unit. Many of the Englander 25-PDVC's in my area sell for $300-$700... In My Honest Opinion...
