So, been burning the F600 for about a month now and I have to say- I LOVE IT! Ran the older VC stoves all my life, and am finding the Jotul to be both a great heater and easy to operate.

1- I like the air controls- one lever does it all. I think I have it dialed in now, tonight throwing off some monster heat and regularly more than adequately heating the house, even on the nights we have gotten down to 12 degrees.

2- The glass doors make it easier to monitor the fire- no more lifting the top load plate on the Vigilant to see how everything is going

3- Burns so much cleaner- a little smoke on the reload- and then the neighbors don't even know the stove is running. Neighbor asked me the other day when I was going to light the stove- I took him in the basement to show him the 550 degree stove top temp and to let him sweat it out a little in the 90 degree basement!

4- Not certain about wood savings yet- firebox is bigger and I think I will end up just around the same amount of wood used as last year- but I am definitely getting more heat out of the F600 than the Vigilant

5- Have yet to clean the chimney, but plan to take a look into the ss liner in the near future to see how things are going in there.

6- It's a damn pretty stove that has me thinking I need to finish off the basement to give her a proper home.

Yes, sometimes I do miss the Vigilant, but like an old girlfriend, the memories fade a little bit after the new lady gets a hold of you.

From the bottom at first. I know that most of the potential buildup would be at the top, but I do not go on my roof. Will probably send the sooteater through to see what I get.

Just wait until the real cold hits, you'll love your new gal so much, you'll smirk at the memory of the ex.

Remi - glad the Firelight is doing to job. It was my second choice stove and it is beautiful. The only downside to your install must be not being able to see the stove all the time! Congrats on a great stove! Cheers, Jacques.

From your avatar, it looks like you either work on the sea or enjoy being out on it... Im sure you like the sea shell on top of the firelight. I thought it was a nice touch.

They are really a great stove. Can't wait for the real cold weather to hit so I can see what mine is fully capable of! Glad you are enjoying yours as well.

This summer I had an opportunity to try commercial crab fishing with my brother in law in Delaware, the photo is from that day. Loved every minute of it! I live in the woods of NH, so the fishing opportunities are limited to our 18 10acre+ lakes.

The sea shell is a nice touch. Have to admit that the first time I saw the stove I tried opening the top, as I replaced a VC Vigilant with the Jotul.

Great to hear that the F600 is working well for you. It is a beauty. What's your typical burn cycle like, size of splits, etc.? Time between reloads?

Remkel, I'd be interested in what town your in? I'ld also be interested in what dealer you bought from, someone in the area? I'm just south on Ashby Ma.. and starting to think about a new stove for the main floor.
