I know tomorrows Xmas eve, but I seem to enjoy waking up early and filling the truck up..

Got a lady who said she has split stacked piles that have been sitting for a few years she needs cleared out...I am hitting that house first...she also has some downed trees in her yard from Irene...

Next house is a bunch of fresh cut stuff left by the tree company...

This is becoming a weekly habit......

Anyone else got plans?

i'm in the planning stages of getting plans lol

there is a guy who owns 150 acres behind my parents house that i snowmobile with. no1 in his family burns wood , and i am trying to get up the nerve to see if i can go back there to see if there are any dead or downed trees i can get for firewood. how do you go about asking something like that ? just straight up ask ?

Im pretty foward with people. I'll knock on doors if driving by and see some wood. I'll ask if they are getting rid of it, then Ill ask if they are selling it, depending on the load. If you are only taking the downed trees, as I try to do. Most people will let you have at it. Cleans up their yard and Is a win/win

I'll be getting my Yule log back tomorrow , I was out today and cut it in half as I couldn't lift it in one.

It's a nice big birch trunk which will burn nicely next Christmas.

Last years birch Yule log is ready to burn now, 1 year on from collecting, splitting and stacking :)

Can I put a purchased Yule log into my stove, if its from the supermarket and Kiln Dried??? Might be fun to do for Xmas day??

Wifey is a little worried that I am going to cut some wood Xmas eve (morning) need to get home before the Giant vs. Jets at 1pm eastern.

I'll be getting out hopefully twice this week, since I have the week off. Everyone be safe.

No idea, if it's dry wood, it'll burn.......

This is last years Yule log after I dragged it in:

This years one is slightly smaller, and cut into 4 rounds, made 16 splits.
Enough to make a fire which should burn Christmas Day and Boxing Day:

No snow this year, about 30f warmer, so I'll stay out of the woods for a while now, it's too muddy for any serious scrounging ;-)

No scrounging today, just stacking the pile I split yesterday.

I spent the two day's hauling stuff that I dropped last year about this time...splitting the ones that needed it etc... Next years wood, about 7 trips in all over the weekend. Less than 10 miles round trip so not bad. Mostly oak with some old ash mixed in.
