In The Woods
Today I decided to split & stack what was on the ground, some from last winter. Like the title said it's all in the stack, from beech to basswood. Tomorrow will likely be spent taking down a dead pine along with a small dead cherry, both are around the transformer so some cables will be used.

We still have the truck full from yesterday along with the trailer full.

Love those stacks! Merry Christmas zap!

Merry Christmas FireAnt, looks like we'll have a white christmas here, about two inches of the white stuff here.

Thanks
Zap

Great pictures Zap
Looks like winter is sneaking in on you.
Wood stacks as far as the eye can see. :)

Looks good zap. Like Dave said, stacks everywhere! I didn't see 2 splitters, just 1 broken still pointing towards the stars. Lol... Merry Christmas. :)

PapaDave, that second splitter was for up top until I chased (just missed) someone on our property with a four wheeler. That problem will be taken care of.

Just a dusting for Christmas. Working on the new stacking area tomorrow for the shoulder season wood along with about 3-4 more cord of Cherry. The weather looks good through the end of December, so two more weeks of cutting for sure.

Merry Christmas

Just make sure that chimney is cleaned so Santa can deliver the gifts to the young guy.

Nice job, good the weather its holding out. Better weather = more cuttin, cause you know that, it won't be good weather forever. A bit colder here overnight, and plan on scrounging this week. Nice pics

Backwoods, single digits the last two nights here in the hills. Plenty of work to do here just not sure which direction I'll go, splitting & stacking or cutting.

Merry Christmas
Happy Scrounging

I hear ya, theres no way what I do here is comparable to what you do up in them hills, but if I know I got alot of wood to get, I try to buck it all, if time split, if not,i like to go out at night with a headlamp, and split away. I still have a pile to s+s. since having the wood stove, its been tough to get off my butt, to do anything productive.

zap, we're not too far from harrisburg so you can watch it on the weathermap. I keep my eyes on jay,ny becasue of the familys place up there. so no snow in the forecast down here...kinda like a "heat wave". at this point our 2011-12 wood is gonna run into 12-13. barely dented the pile. although I did manage to make a couple of pizzas in the isle royale last night. came out great.
once you put the layer of firebricks over the coals the fire is pretty much done. A quick cleanup this morning and back cruising 500ish with mostly shoulder season stuff. can only do small loads and go to coals or else its time to open the windows. that has happened alot so far this year.

Christmas we are suppose to have winds up to 22 mph, cold with the wind should make it interesting. Beech and Sugar Maple weather.

Looking real good Zap - have a very Merry Christmas! Just a light dusting of snow here, so a very light, white Christmas! Cheers!
