My neighbor gave me a nice round from a dead Virginia Pine he dropped in his yard. He said it could be my yule log and that is exactly what is will be! Later this evening I'll find a way to get it in the Jotul and we'll watch it burn awhile. Yeah, I'll probably stuff the stove with some 4 year old hickory splits for the overnight burn but we're gonna enjoy this yule log and rejoice in how lucky we are.

Merry Christmas to all my Hearth.com friend!

I have identified approximately 7 logs to share the duties of yule log this year. Plan to place them into the Jotul at 10 pm or so.

And a Merry Christmas to you also!

Yeah. The Yule Log is split into six splits and burning in the 30 right now.

51F here right now. I may have to split it into a 6 pack and burn it in myself instead.

My Yule Log is whatever wood I have in the woodbox . . .

I've got a 2 YO piece of oak in the shape of a "U" 14" long (sorry taking care of Murph .. no pics, and it's gonna happen) That is earmarked for tomorrow. If yer lucky, I'll get a pic of it ;-)

Full load o' yule in the encore and a few in the fireplace in the den too :) 20 outside, 73 in here.

Have a merry one...

The 30 was full of logs, now its just coals. Time to reload it with Overnight Oak. May you all have a Merry Christmas in the company and warmth of loved ones.

Exactly BG, I had chicken, bread and noodles with a beer for dinner. Now we are burning a nice mix of hard and soft wood yule logs....

32 going down to 28. Flames rolling off the yule log (w/secondaries) with the kids (24, 21, 20) firing up Santa Claus 2 on the NetFlicks. All is well! Merry Christmas to all - and to all a good night!

Yule fuel burning now. 30 out and 85 in, with windows open. LOVE my stove !

The Yule log was chopped up into lumber, processed, and its lonely sawdust/shavings left behind were combined with other yule logs' shavings to form a composite yule log in briquette form. That is now burning merrily in the Jotul as I get the Big Green Egg crankin' for smoked turkey later...

I have a big ugly piece of Shagbark Hickory that I split into a few chunks. More correctly I should say I HAD such a log. It wouldn't stack well but burned great and lasted all night, so I guess that makes it the Yule Log for this year.
